Napier and Staff Doing Work
Let's get the caveats out of the way.
1. They haven't signed yet.
2. The spring signing period will probably affect the ranking.
But Billy Napier and his staff are doing work.
247sports ranks the Cajuns' recruiting class #58 in the nation and #1 in the Sun Belt. In that number are 18 3* commitments.
Only SMU (54), Memphis (55) and UCF (57) are rated higher amongst G5 schools.
Others in the Belt: Troy (74), AState (83), Georgia State (93), App (100), GaSo (101), USA (118), ULM (119), TxSt (123), Coastal (132)
Obviously App and TxSt are affected by coaching changes.
Last year's Cajuns class was ranked #105.

RE: Napier and Staff Doing Work
Incredible job by that staff. Does anyone know what the highest ranked class a Sun Belt school has had off the top of their head? I feel like if it isn't #58 then that's pretty dang close.

App is more affected by the small class of 10 scholarships to hand out.
Congrats to Napier and Co., ULL is well on its way and should be the favorite in the West maybe all of the SBC next year.

I find 10 hard to believe. You had 28 commits back in 2014 (lol at the Jalin Moore rating btw) and I know you've had at least some attrition from this class. I find it less likely that you recovered that attrition in other classes due to signing limits.
To put in contrast, we graduated 8 seniors last year but still ended up signing around 20 guys, due to various attrition and class balancing.
I'd be very surprised to see you stay at 10 and not somewhere between 15-20.
Back to the OP, Cajuns are definitely bringing in a good class on paper. Our class will likely stay on the lower side just due to the lineman centric look it's taking on since that's our major position of need right now.

Impressed by Louisiana's recruiting. It hasn't been gone unnoticed on our board for sure. Meanwhile, our recruiting is in the 90s....trying to get a class around 80s...sigh

You're right, it's actually 13 (still a very small class), we have 12 "committed". We only had 10 seniors and had three guys leave during the year.

Class is shaping up very nicely. Two three-star guys on the d-line committed this weekend. And both from Louisiana.

They are hooked, but they still have to reel them in. Hopefully they can do that in the early signing period.

We are 118.......that doesn’t sound good at all. A lot of talent in Alabama, we would be better then that.

Yea 13 sounds a little bit better. You might still have a slot or 2 open as well, a lot of coaches hold 'em just in case.

RE: Napier and Staff Doing Work
We're ranked 3rd in the conference, but 1st in the conference with average rating, having 10 of 11 commits being 3 star. The Cajuns have 21 commits, so they get more points having 10 more commits than us. As we get more commits, our average could drop. Since we got Anderson, our recruiting classes are quirky. Anderson loves Blue shirts. There are several guys that joined the team after school started, and even played, that will count towards this class. It's hard to keep up with them all. 3 of our 11 are Juco guys, and expect some more Juco guys. Fortunately, most of them are guys with 4 years left to play 3, and are showing up in December. Anderson is able to get very good talent, but some are not happy with his recruiting classes that are heavy on Juco guys and transfers. This possibly contributes to lack of team chemistry and slow starts with the offensive scheme.

I think that has to do more with we are going after Oline and DLine.

Yeah, we've got a limited class we can sign this year, and his fascination with Blue Shirts mean we'll almost certainly have a few who don't sign till August.

Billy Napier said he would recruit the talent rich state of LA hard.
Presently, 16 of 22 commits are in-state.
What Billy says, Billy does!

That's always a plus.
I always wondered what would happen to college football if NCAA implements a rule that colleges can only recruit in-state. Guess Louisiana would be just fine.

Teams not located in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia would fall off the face of the earth...
