That is a bummer. It is a position group that needs a lot of help. Any word on where he will be going?

glad you don't run anything associated with UC....my degree would be worth less if you did.

Can't do that or your recruiting will suffer big time. That will be held against you by everyone you are recruiting against. It happens every year at every school and is part of business.

I have no issue with Harris leaving. UC isn't for everybody and everyone isn't for UC. I wish him well in his future endeavors.

RE: Meechi Harris
There are new transfer rules.

The NCAA's Division I Council approved a proposal on Wednesday that gives athletes more power and athletic institutions less, as the organization officially adopted a "notification-of-transfer" model.

College athletes will be allowed to transfer without the permission of the university or coach, and the school will be obligated to enter the athlete's name in a national transfer database within two business days.

Once a name is in the database, any coach can contact that athlete. Previously, athletes had to receive permission from their current school to be contacted by another school before they could receive another scholarship.

The rule change, which begins Oct. 15, applies to all Division I sports, but will mostly affect the high-revenue sports of football and men's basketball. One significant caveat is that major NCAA conferences can still implement rules that are more restrictive than the national rule.

Any word on where he ended up? I did a brief search and saw something about WVU but I think that was as a HS recruit.

kinda surprised there's nothing out there even with a JUCO school but wouldn't be surprised if he got caught up in what's mentioned in the above article.

"The harsh reality is there are hundreds of FBS players out there who have yet to find new homes. Although there’s still time for many of them to land in good spots, they’re learning the hard way what a risky proposition it has become to try to transfer in college football.

The portal has become an open marketplace struggling with an extremely basic issue: too much supply, limited demand. At just the Power 5 level, more than 450 players have entered the portal, according to 247Sports’ transfer portal tracker. And at the moment, 240 of them are uncommitted. Including Group of 5 players, the total available is far more than 400.

A more telling reality check from this portal era: Of the more than 450 looking to leave Power 5 schools, only 20 percent have ended up at another Power 5 program. Upon hearing that percentage, Edwards paused and then replied: “I’m actually gonna go tell our team that. I want to make sure they understand this, because I don’t want a kid to be blindsided.”

Ninety-two players have transferred from one Power 5 school to another. Perhaps more alarming, as few as 65 have found a spot at a Group of 5 school. It would seem as if there are far more opportunities out there at the Group of 5 level for players on the move. But there aren’t."

edit: from futher into the article

"Another reason why 240 Power 5 players haven’t found homes: If coaches do have room to take a transfer, they’re going to be extremely selective. Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley said when the Sooners staff has dug into the list of available players and their backgrounds — who’s on scholarship and who isn’t, who’s on academic probation, who’s been suspended — they’ve found “it whittles down pretty quick.” Edwards agreed.

“I look at some of these guys that other teams pick up and then I go back and I look at their résumé,” he said, “and I go, ‘Why would you want a guy with that type of production, with not a lot of production? You might as well go get a freshman guy and build your program.’”

This is an interesting article. I mean, if players were allowed one free transfer I think it would improve their marketability on the open transfer portal to new programs for two reasons:

1) The coaching staff gets a player that is ready to contribute immediately, so they don't have to invest an extra year of scholarship in a sit out.

2) The coaching staff doesn't have to deal with all the hassle and time invested in waivers. I mean, what do we think the aggregate hours of time was spent by the staff on Hudson's waiver and appeal?

I think players should be allowed to freely transfer schools at least one time no questions asked. Eventually, regardless of the rules that are in place, the transfer market will reach some sort of equilibrium soon. I think we will likely see the number of players entering the portal drop since these transfer portal rules are still relatively new and it sounds like a lot of these players entered into the unknown where the grass hasn't exactly been as green as they expected.

I don't believe he's at WVU... That was a recruiting report from 2018. He's not listed on the WVU roster.

Everything I found on "Google" ended with his transfer out of UC. Even ESPN's database had "No information available."
