Exclamation ‘19 FB Class
Dang....I know recruiting is fluid, but we have lost some solid commitments this year....Given performance of our Defense, I was sad to see ILB Chris Russell decommited. That’s already (5) P5 players: WR (Mullins), RB (Conner), LB (Russell), DE (Gregory) and DB (Simmons)
https://247sports.com/college/memphis/Se...Decommits/

*We have to be able to keep these players in the fold.

Bro, it would be easy if we were in a P5 Conference but we're not. That's why CMN is out shaking the bushes!!

I’m happy we got to the point where we get these type of commitments. We just need to keep them. Truly think Conner would be an elite back in the AAC and Gregory and Russell would have been huge additions to the Defense. Mullins is the type of WR we need to compliment Coxie (tall, fast, good hands).

I hate it but I also understand it. If your Memphis and P5 schools want your commitments they will probably get them. But this also happens inside the P5. If Alabama wants a kid that’s committed to Ole Miss or MS state they are gonna get them. If Florida wants a kid that’s committed to Kansas st. or Texas Tech they are gonna get them. Very few schools don’t have their commitments taken.

RE: ‘19 FB Class
Hate to lose a good commit but we are significantly ahead of last year with what we have in the tank now. 14 3*, mid 50s national rank compared to 80s last year. We get mostly 3* players now which means we are getting more players that the P5 will want as the overall pool sorts itself out.

We are also getting more of the late higher ranked players that may get caught up in numbers games or other challenges with P5 schools. Our talent pool on campus and young and we are redshirting more rather than depending on the playing as freshmen.

Ours is a half-full glass not a half-empty one.

25. They will just early enroll if needed so the scholarship counts to this year. Or gray shirt. Or tell a couple they no longer have room.

Guarantee Conner won't be bumped off their list.

RE: ‘19 FB Class
It's very difficult to compete against P5 schools... Example with all of the stuff Ole Piss has gone through the last 2 years they currently have the 19th ranked recruiting class (Up to 5 4*'s and there not done) and they will probably move up.

Your just not going to see the Tigers have a top 25 recruiting class until we're in a P5 conference. Ole piss. MS state etc will always out recruit us...

I saw that. They would be great pickups. The MS/AL all star game features multiple future tigers. One name I haven't heard much about is Antavious Willis from Velma Jackson. Don't know if the Tigers are involved or not. Hearing he is tearing it up and more than holding his own against the other all stars. USM folks are high on him and hoping he stays under the radar.

Like to get both. DE commited to Tenn and an ILB once commited to LSU.

RE: ‘19 FB Class
From MS/AL practice:
Quote:2. Maliek Stallings, DB, Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County - He's a bigger cornerback and was always around the ball Friday afternoon. The Memphis Tiger pledge had multiple interceptions breaking downhill on the football. When he puts his foot in the ground and attacks the ball, his size, physicality, bend and acceleration make him a dangerous corner to test for quarterbacks. Stallings looks complete as a big cornerback but was also one of the most consistent defensive backs for Team Mississippi overall Friday.

For those interested, but not able to watch

Another one to watch is Reddy Steward from AL. Not likely to sign early, but being recruited by the Tigers.
