RE: 2018 Bowl Bonanza Thread
Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual/5 p.m. ET, ESPN
No. 9 Washington vs. No. 6 Ohio State -6.5
Ohio State 28 (13-1)
Washington 23 (10-4)
Looked like the Bucks took the foot off the gas pedal in the 4th quarter because they were leading 28-3 and pretty much dominated the game up to that point. The end of an era in Columbus...
Conference Results:
CUSA (4-2)
SEC (6-4)
MWC (3-2)
Sun (3-2)
B1G (5-4)
ACC (5-5)
B12 (3-3)
P12 (3-4)
AAC (2-5)
MAC (1-5)
I'll say this, if not for our bowl win the AAC would be in the basement with MACtion. So, is CUSA the true P6 LOL!

RE: 2018 Bowl Bonanza Thread
During the UCF v LSU game we got a lot of BS about how UCF being too small and blah blah blah, however the final score was a single score difference. That's in line with the other big money bowl games. The final line was 7, so LSU just barely covered.
That's not the sign of a team that does not belong. Of course ppl will extrapolate and say they couldn't compete week in, and week out, but that's dumb cuz it's a meaningless hypothetical. No one says that in other bowl games, cuz that's not what bowl games are about. It's about a single game. Bottom line, we belong.

Yea I thought it was bush league also. No need for those announcers to interject those kinds of comments into the game. They were saying that UCF is struggling with LSU's OL and LSU doesn't even have an elite OL (insinuating they couldn't handle to best teams in the country). That's the kind of crap that joe blow Big 10/SEC/etc. fan will be parroting this morning at the water cooler.
UCF was sky high in the early going and made some bone headed mistakes, like spiking the ball after stopping LSU on 3rd down which lead to a personal foul penalty and ultimately an LSU TD. It was a good game, though. No shame in losing to a very good LSU team where you're kicking an onside kick late in the 4th to try to tie.

RE: 2018 Bowl Bonanza Thread
Always wondered how so many folks were able to follow their schools through the conference championships, semis, and national championship games. I guess there are limitations, after all. I wasn't aware the game was in San Jose until reading the article. Stupid location to hold a championship, i.e. geography, expensive costs, PAC 12 teams not having a chance, etc.

Ticket prices on the secondary market for Monday’s college football national title game are cratering – get-in prices hit $150 Tuesday on StubHub and experts say it should continue to drop. By comparison, last year’s get-in price peaked at about $1,700.
“Prices are trending lower than we have ever seen before,” SeatGeek.com’s Chris Leyden told Yahoo Sports. “Demand is down.”
And that’s just part of it. The semifinal games weren’t competitive and delivered comparatively low television ratings.

The title game was in Atlanta last year and had Georgia vs. Alabama (a closely neighboring state to ATL). Last year's prices were obviously going to be an outlier. However I would say that college football is a southeastern/midwest sport. The best programs are AL, Clem, OSU, OU, and UGA. They're playing in Santa Clara and these two schools go every year; more fans than usual are probably sitting this out.

The espn announcers have been going into overtime repeating their scripted talking points that Bama-Clemson IV is absolutely great for the sport in a way that reeks of fear.

That's what they were saying on College Football Live yesterday. That people want to see the two best teams in the country play and that doesn't matter if it's the same teams every year. It was also disgraceful to watch them tear down UCF and use their loss to LSU to basically validate that not only should UCF not have made the playoffs, but there should be no expansion of the playoff to 8 teams so a team like UCF can get a shot.

That is bs and they know it. Only college football refuses to embrace both the underdog and national growth of the sport.
Most fans want a national tournament that includes at least one underdog type team and representation from all the power conferences as well. We also want to keep the bowl system and conference championship games. Winning your conference should matter as well winning at a high rate. It isn’t hard to figure out.

Its all scripted and produced from upstairs at ESPN. Their agenda is pretty clear, and obviously they are using their bully pulpit to shape reality.

The only entity that can counter-balance espn-sec and get us to 8 is the Big Ten, and Delany doesn't seem to care so long as his sepia-tinged nostalgia for the Rose Bowl is indulged. Barry Alvarez coming out publicly in favor of expansion to 8 is a hopeful glimmer is that there might be some differing opinions among the B10 ADs and Presidents that mightcforce some action by Delany.

if the B1G gets left out again, you won't have a problem with them wanting 8 teams

Delany cares more than you think. His ego is massive. In his world view the B10 is the premiere conf, not the SEC. Dollar Jim, though, tends to do more behind closed doors than in the public eye.

NDSU won 38-24 for its record breaking 7th FCS Championship out of the past 8 seasons. Their 7 championships are the most ever and they were previously tied at 6 with Georgia Southern.

I think someone may have alluded to this in the Military Bowl thread but even more impressive with our bowl win is the fact that we were only 1 of 2 G5 teams to beat P5. Here are the non-P5 bowl winners...
