People have stopped thinking critically about issues; they figure out which side they are on, then denigrate opponents of that side without much thought given to the foundations of their positions. It is so tiring and certainly doesn't get us any closer to actual solutions.
I have spoken out publicly against illegal immigration for over 25 years. I was against Reagan's amnesty even further back. I have gone to Washington (about 19 years ago) and met with government officials to seek answers as to what can be done at the local level and was met with blank stares and shrugged shoulders. I believe my bona fides are solid on this issue. However, I have never believed that a physical wall was a practical solution to the problems of illegal immigration. It is impractical at best and wasteful and ineffective at worst. You can buy into Trump's claims if you like, but I am not buying into a physical wall being the panacea that he seems to believe it will be.
People are wasting time fighting over the funding of a physical wall and assigning blame for its lack of funding. I don't care what Trump promised his supporters, we should be looking for more effective and less wasteful solutions to the influx of people seeking to enter the country without proper documentation. I am equally concerned with the millions of people already here and how we can effectively deal with them. Memes, insults and infighting won't get the job done there either.
Your buying into a lot of hype here. Trumps wall is a physical wall—and it’s incredibly effective where it exists. But trump has said many time it’s not going to be built in places where it’s impractical or unneeded. Some of the money will also be used to upgrade the current “fence” to the more effective proposed wall. Don’t fall prey to Nancy and Chucks fake news.
Incredibly effective? Is it tho?

95% reduction in border crossings at San Diego. Your article is just a discussion of various prototypes, some of which will be discarded.
In some cases they are trying to switch from a solid wall to the one with slats, which allows the border patrol to see what is happening on the other side, whether it be a gathering of people or someone throwing rocks or other things at them over the wall (of course the first thought that comes to my mind is that they could stick a rifle through the slats and shoot someone on the American side).

Slats and guard towers aren't relevant if you use surveillance drones and cameras.

And when 100 or 15,000 cross at once your drones and guard towers will be worthless.
