SEC commish has advice for UCF's CFP problems
Quote:Sankey: “We had a similar issue in men’s basketball a couple years ago, when we only had three schools selected for the tournament,”
So "only" having 3 opportunities is the same as UCF getting no opportunity.

Does he realize how much of a douchebag he sounds like?

Quote:“Rather than looking at the committee, the schedule, etc, we need to look inward. How can we do better for ourselves?”

So the moral is, UCF needs to look inward and figure out how to win more than all their games

EDIT: Here's the article, but I've given you all he said: https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-fo...nce-again/

I'm not a big basketball fan, but isn't 3 bids like a banner year for most conferences?

Think about the layers of douchbaggery he was able to cram into one statement, it's art really

Ahhhhh, now it make sense. Do BETTER than win 100% of your games. What a douche. First off, one of their teams got an automatic bid and two others had a clear path to a championship. Can't compare the two.

This is like all the idiots on twitter who post UCF should just schedule "better" (as if it is in their control) or join a "real conference (as if they haven't tried).

Hell, almost all of us have tried to join a "real conference," lol.

And good luck getting a good P5 team to play a G5 team when the G5 is actually good.

They absolutely love the SOS argument because it means nobody from the AAC ever gets in. We can't control 67% of the schedule. The OOC schedule is made like 5 years in advance and hope someone good will do a 1-1.

RE: SEC commish has advice for UCF's CFP problems
The fact that SOS is determined by Polls destroys the integrity of the SOS system. Completely bogus voted on by the coaches artificially propping up their opponents on their schedule. Only sport in America conducted this way and huge money grab. The country clubbers will never change the system!!!!

I'm not an AAC fan, but the $EC commish is an idiot.

1) No "good" P5 teams want to play at Go5 schools, or even play them period sometimes. He should put his money where his mouth is and tell LSU/T A&M/Bama/Florida/whoever to play AT UCF.
2) He knows FB schedules are made years, even decades!, in advance. UCF could schedule 'Bama/Clemson/ND 4-5 years from now, but how do they know they will still be a really good team then?

You can schedule really good P5 teams, it's just that they will be 1 and done. Boise St has always been able to play the top P5 teams....just that they are 1 and done. Don't bother getting home and home, cause the only P5 schools that will are the lowly ones.

RE: SEC commish has advice for UCF's CFP problems
Step 1: Win 100% of Games for 5 years straight.

Step 2: Win said games by 10 Touchdowns or more, including all Top 25 P5 opponents.

Step 3: We'll look inward as a Committee, and maybe place you at #5 just to tease you and get some laughs at you afterwards.

PS: Any P5 team finishing 5-7 or better supercedes Steps 1 -2 , and adds to our laughter in Step 3.

RE: SEC commish has advice for UCF's CFP problems
Honestly, it's really a numbers game.

I'm a little less mad when there are legitimately 4 teams that may be better.
I have UCF 6th (the 4 plus OSU), but there are 6-7 teams that deserve a shot (those 6 + possibly Georgia).

Until its x5 P5 champs, x1 highest G5 champ (dedicated), 2 WCs, we're all pissing in the wind.

But yes, UCF deserves a shot. We need more teams.

RE: SEC commish has advice for UCF's CFP problems
There is ONE thing UCF can do, but you guys aren't going to like it.

Accept the 2-for-1's; play the P5 on the road if you have to; get the neutral site made-for-TV games when you can. Adopt FSU's old battle cry: "Anyone, any PLACE, any time".

That's what Florida State did when the Noles were trying to break into the big time in Bobby Bowden's early years (note: I'm using the current conference affiliations when I count P5 or G5 away games).

1976 - 4 P5 road games, plus 2 G5 road games (6 road games in all)
1977 - 4 P5 road games, plus 2 G5 road games (6 road games in all)
1978 - 3 P5 road games, plus 2 G5 road games (5 road games in all)
1979 - 4 P5 road games, 1 P5 neutral site game, plus 1 G5 away game (6 away from home)

Keep in mind that FSU had the advantage of being an independent, so they could fill out the rest of their schedule with buy games -- UCF can't do that, they must play an AAC schedule too. Still, if you're willing to play a season with only 6 - or even 5 - home games, you could schedule as many as 4 P5 OOC games. Make at least one of them the big-time neutral site kickoff game variety and you probably even get a big name opponent.

Do that for about 4 years in a row and you'll be in a much better position vis-a-vis the playoff committee.

It isn't fair, but I don't control the game, I just watch it and report on what I see.
