UAB does have some impressive stats. Better than NIU on both offense and defense. But run this experiment through your head.

Take a look at the Huskies 2018 schedule.

Remove the following teams: Iowa, Florida State, Ohio, BYU, and Buffalo.

In their place, insert the following teams: Savanah State, Lou Tech, Rice, UTEP, and Southern Miss.

Now just imagine what the Huskies' stats would look like with that schedule, because that is comparable to UAB's scheduel.

RE: Apples to apples
What concerns me the most is the Huskies ability to score in this game. UAB gave up 7 points or fewer six times, and three of those were shutouts. Each of their opponents in these games was ranked 100 or lower for yards per game and/or points per game. The Huskies are ranked 123 ypg and 120 ppg.

RE: Apples to apples
Depends which NIU offense shows up. If it's an offense that just wants to throw sideline passes and run the same dives up the middle with Harbs and Childers we'd need a few turnovers to win the game. And if we throw in penalties, drops, and turnovers offensively, we will definitely lose. If we have an aggressive offensive philosophy and a varied/creative running attack we will win. The defense will keep us in it no matter what the offense does, but the performance of the offensive coaches will ultimate decide whether we win comfortably or go through another roller coaster ride. I hope to see a dominating performance...

You are asking if the Huskie offense be more effective than UTEP, Rice, Savanah St, UTSA, Lou Tech, and Charlotte. I think so.

I think we are going to see our O back, like the MACC. Maybe a fake punt as well.

Two of those teams are statistically better than the Huskies on offense. I expect the Huskies to score more than 7 points, but you never know with this team. Luckily, UAB's offense isn't anything special.

You would think we would avoid ever running a play like that after last year's Quick Lanes Bowl. But then again,..

Their schedule was pretty weak. Texas A&M was their best opponent and they lost that game by 3+ TDs. I know we ended up playing eight teams that are going to bowl games (would be nine if 6-6 Miami wasn't left out).

EDIT: Correction, we played nine teams that are going bowling.

Do you ever stop trolling?

Carey has one season where he finally beats a few teams with winning records. Let's see if he can consistently do it.

BYU is what, 6-6? The others are MAC teams in a down year. Did they beat a Miami team with Roethlisberher or a Toledo with Gradkowski or Woodside or CMU with Lefevour or WMU with Terrell or Ball State with Nate Davis?

Hell of a couple down years.

Carey went 3-1 against Terrell for the record.
