I saw this article on my WP feed. It is a bit long for a full cut and paste. You get 5 "free" WP views a month - then it is "paywall" time.

I have seen this before, so it is not a new concept, though I have read more about donations increasing after successful sports seasons. This is why schools are willing to pay successful coaches such a big bounty. It is not "just" about prestige - many schools are seeing a real bonus from sports success.
