RE: ODU vs bill/mary
We've swept JMU and W&M plenty of times. Sweeping VCU is another story, especially when playing them twice.
Razor does have a point regarding the big picture. While I am happy for the sweep, beating VCU at home and beating JMU and W&M anywhere should be something that we expect as a program. The fact that we failed to do this all to often recently is a big part of the complaint department here.
Anyway, I see this team getting even better with all the new players adjusting, and we may have a real shot at something special this season.

The point is - we all understand what the big picture is. We get it. We really do.
When we get victories along the way, we should be enjoying them rather than pointing out what is ahead of us.

The "Big Picture?" The big picture is that even though we were favored over all 3 teams (and a better team), the odds of us winning all 3 were around 40%; even with us being double digit (or close) favorites over JMU and W&M. The fact that we beat all 3 by double digits should be something to be excited about.
But, then again, who wants to enjoy victories when we can whine about the "big picture?"

Giles, for someone who has an eye for details concerning stats, your reading comprehension is lacking. Did I post something that you disagreed with?

It’s just obvious that some fans will grudgingly acknowledge a win but willingly holds on to the accept nothing more than mediocrity mentality so they can easily revert back to the bash the team mantra that is overwhelmingly contagious on here .

It seems 90% of your posts are nothing more than criticisms of others criticisms. You rarely post anything positive, which I find ironic. Constantly bitching about others bitching still just makes you a complainer yourself. Why not try ignoring others and posting some original thoughts of your own.

I like to read - I find no reward in having 6000+ posts . It’s hard to ignore when 90% of the crap you read is the same thing which is far from original it is insane ...

40%??? Are you high?
We were double digit favorites in 2 of the 3 games.
97.6% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
You are such an unmitigated joke lol.

The problem is, many of the jones defenders don’t get the big picture because they are still defending the “job” he’s done as acceptable in year 6.
Giles and t Mac are prime examples, albeit not people who’s opinions should ever be taken seriously.

And yet here you are, as usual, totally missing his (and THE) point.
Go figure!

You're right, some people don't get it. And if they don't get it by now, they never will, regardless of how you or I post. I will freely admit this season is going better than how I predicted we would be right now. The big guys are struggling (predicted) but BJ and Caver are carrying the team much better than expected. Caver had an off night and still finished with a double-double (12 points and 12 assists). We have yet to see what the ceiling looks like with this team. No team in CUSA looks particularly dominate right now, and that could change, but as of right now we still look to be among the best of them and that's what matters... for now.

RE: ODU vs bill/mary
No, actually what matters is that we see how the season is going to end well before the end. We hear about it all off season during recruitment, all through the beginning of the season before the games start, before and after each stretch of games and all throughout the season including going into the critical post-season tournament. We know how it going to end. And we knew how the seasons were going to end when Blaine was coach as well--even though there was an at large run. It's just critical that every individual reading these boards, hear every day from a couple of people, how bad this team and program's ambition is. It is hard to understand why they should even bother to play the games anymore.

We get it, but no one on here has the juice to fix the problems. Selig and Jones are here for the long term. Given that I try to be optimistic, versus negative or real all the time. I don't have the scratch to get Brodericks attention and seeing that the coaches/AD are still in place the people who do are ok with where the programs are headed. All of these threads are the dog chasing his tail. Enjoy the present moments.

"Selig and Jones are here for the long term"
I would not assume that. But, either way, carry on about how depressing this season is even though we are playing well.

Well there are no rumblings about either of them going anywhere. And I never said anything about being depressed. If you read the post I said I am optimistic.

I say JJ is likely to retire after this year and our new HC is Coach Stith. I think JJ has done what any good mentor / leader does....grows and develops their replacement.

I was talking with someone the other day and I said the same thing. Well, I don't know one way or the other but that wouldn't surprise me.
