RE: ODU vs bill/mary
Our bigs will have their hands full with Nathan Knight. We need Green to stick to Pierce (he didn't start against GMU, because he was coming off an injury, I think). If we stay disciplined on defense and not give up too many open threes or backdoor cuts, we should be alright.

Im hoping the mobility of Ekizpe and Dickens will help out as well as Stith playing the 4. The one thing that really hurt us was when mobile big guys could hit shots from the outside (or drive past our bigs).

I worry about those guys, though, as the Tribe offense can make defenders look stupid if they aren't disciplined. I love what I see from those two bigs, but defensive discipline isn't exactly a strong suit right now for either of them.

MHJ riding the bench must be raising their profile. :)

Furman putting in work

If you put Davidson, Charleston and Georgia Southern back in the SoCon ... they probably still wouldn't get an at-large bid but it would be a very entertaining conference, at least up top.

I defer to those of you on the board who seem to have in depth basketball knowledge but W&M worries this old fan. They still have "steely eyed missile men" who can drill the 3 and they also have what I would think is maybe the best big man we have faced this season. *(I did not see any of the Oregon State or St. Joe's Game) I know they play little defense and have their own deficiencies but the matchups in this game worry me. I feel like our team is Achilles but they have a team of archers who specialize in shooting men in the foot/heal. After the heartbreaker last year (oh the pain) I do not want a repeat so please reassure with all the reasons We Will Win this year.

Bold (hopeful) Prediction: this will be the Robinson breakout game. I have zero reason to believe this other than it's fun to type. I look forward to him showcasing his size and staying out of foul trouble!

What will likely happen: we roll out our Golden State Warrior Lineup (Mahd, Green, Godwin, BJ, Dickens) and take out the princeton offense of W&M. This will not be JMU, but I don't think we will struggle. Don't foul. Good guys win by 10.

I hope you are right 09. To me, this is one game where I don't see Robinson even getting much PT. Their big's like to shoot from deep, he has no business being anywhere near that three point line. Dickens, that's another story though !

I agree. He can be a menace down low but is slow getting to his man on the perimeter.

Since coaching from behind a keyboard is fun, I'd love to see a 1-3-1 zone with Dickens at the top, BJ and Green on the Wings, Caver defending the passing lanes against back-door passes and Robinson defending the basket. It wouldn't have to be for long, but it would disrupt almost any patterned offense.

+1 I like it.

There are lots of problems with this. Mainly that guards would blow by Dickens and him and Robinson cannot play together offensivelt.

That's why I had Caver in the middle...driving past Dickens (who could shoot a 3 over him) brings you to Caver, who theoretically forces you to your weak side and forces either a pass or a forced shot (he's also adept a stealing the ball). Any pass receiver still has to shoot over Robinson with BJ and Green collapsing for RBs (fast break pass to Dickens?).

ON offense, Dickens takes Carver's spot on the high post to set screens, possible high-low passes to Robinson (I've seen a couple of passes from Dickens that give me hope that he do more than just play low post), kick-outs to the wings or simply turn and shoot from the FT line.

However, it's probably impractical to implement because it would only work in short spurts to disrupt a perimeter-based offense and would require a lot of practice time to hone. This team is still looking to establish chemistry and continuity in its base offense.

In the long run I hope Ezikpe can find some time at the 4. Currently he is only replacing the two bigs but he seems agile enough to handle the 4 or maybe Dickens can play the 4 on defense. He is certaly mobile.

They would destroy us with corner threes.

When we do something remotely noteworthy, maybe then I’ll feel like discussing something other than our abject mediocrity.

We’ve been fed reheated meatloaf for 6 straight years and you won’t me to say more than 3 things about it, good or bad?? Ha ha

I don't really see the need in calling out specific board members (yeah that's the term I used) when we do well or bad. It doesn't really do anything for us. Let's just enjoy the wins and snap the streak tonight.
