Akron fires Bowden
Akron release, which includes quotes from Bowden. I’ve never seen that before.

Reading Ohio.com this morning it sounded like Bowden was in trouble. You just got the sense the writer already knew something was going to happen.

Larry Williams, the Akron Athletics Director, had an issue with Coach Bowden because he didn't hold his players accountable for issues off the field. This was in the works for quite sometime actually. Rescheduling the Nebraska game for another payday was the first public hint of a buyout instead of scheduling a team that could have helped UA become bowl eligible. The South Carolina game was announced when Akron was eliminated from the MAC Championship game. There were several winnable games to still be played at that time. Akron typically schedules one money game, therefore rescheduling Nebraska for a seven figure guarantee, the third BCS non-conference match this season, was strategic.

I could just see the conversation..."We want to get rid of Bowden, but how're we going to come up with the money to buy him out?..."

Now if Akron wanted to fire him this season are the prepared to go get their guy?
Last year Joel and Casey flew all over the country trying to find "their" guy.

Looking at Kent State present and future schedule playing 3 money games a year. Is the fund raising so low that we continue to sacrifice our football players chances of winning?
