Sam Houston State win
was impressive, but not sure how much to make of it at this point. They are not a bad program, averaging 22 wins over the past 5 seasons. Went to postseason (CIT), 4 of the past 5 years. Won 2 CIT games last year. Picked 5th out of 13 teams in the Southland (2 spots ahead of UCA). Probably would finish near the bottom of the Sun Belt. Still, last year we were the bottom of the Sun Belt and we beat them by 27 points without two of our most productive players. So I think this win was definitely a positive sign. Revenging our win against UCA, next Saturday, would also help me feel better about this team. However, next we have a game with an improving Bradley team that is picked 4th in the MVC. That will be a very tough game, especially if we are still short-handed. Bradley, this year has a 13 point win against SMU and a win against Big 10 Penn State. Actually, beating Bradley would be a huge win for Darrell and the program since they are likely as good as anyone in the Belt except maybe Georgia State.

Right now Sagarin has GSU less than a point better than Bradley on a neutral court.

RE: Sam Houston State win
Hey y'all, Sam Houston fan so I thought I'd weigh in a bit.

Our basketball program is pretty much spiraling out of control right now. We had several key players transfer out of the program this offseason. Despite this, we had a promising start to the season, playing relatively close to some tough opponents, but we just can't hang with DI schools. Fans have been hoping for a coaching change for a few seasons now, but we continue to pad our record year after year with DII games and a crap conference. It's going to be a long season for us.

Best of luck to y'all though! Kick some CA butt for us this week, since I doubt we'll be able to once conference play starts.

Thanks for checking in. SHSU will be back, I have no doubt of that.
