RE: Smaug's $0.02
Wilson has made some excellent receptions and TDs this season, but he has also done some very crazy things when it comes to receiving kickoffs and punts. I have never seen a punt returner point to the ground with his hands before receiving the punt. It was the antithesis of calling for a fair catch.

I heard "Inadvertent Fair Catch Signal". Which to me says " Ref is a Dumba$$"

What i thought they said on TV was that the ref claimed it was an "Improper fair catch signal",, whatever the hell that is.....Regardless, they F***ed up on a play that should have led a a pretty decent return. I think he was trying to warn off our blockers that the ball was going to hit the ground and he didnt want it to bounce up and inadvertently hit one of them and lead to a turnover.

Ref said “Invalid fair catch”—which carries a 5 yard penalty. They did not enforce a penalty

Motioning with your hands just causes confusion, which it did.

The only person it confused was the ref...who blew the call

It's pretty common for a punt returner to make that motion. He's also yelling at his guys telling them the area to vacate so as not to hit by the ball as it lands. It was simply a colossal blunder by the back judge.

Really? I’ve never seen it before - ever!

Yo point at the ground when the ball is bouncing in front of you as the returner to let your teammates know to get out of the way.

It's one way of telling everyone else to get out of the way.

Another one is yelling fire.

To me the highlight was when Johnston ran for the TD and changed direction at the goal line to take a shot at Blankenship. That's a tough minded leader that makes an O-Line love you

Speaking of Blankenship, Cam had to calm one of our linemen down on the sidelines during the game.

Not sure what happened, but the player slammed his helmet on the ground coming off the field.

One other thing: You referenced Black Monday and Black Friday in your post, so I looked it up. December 2, 2014 was a Tuesday.

So Black Tuesday?

It was Justice Powers. He missed a key block and cost the Blazers a first down.

The Safety had designs on hitting TJ after the score, so yeah, lay the wood to him first.

The best offensive linemen have a nasty streak. Nice doesnt win the war in the trenches. We need more like Justice.

Our QB having a bit of a nasty streak is an additional bonus. I loved the end zone message he sent to Blankenship (who was recruited by and should be playing for UAB). Be smart, but let them know that they are only welcome to invade your personal space if they can handle the resultant pain of the greeting.

I watched the replay. The side ref is adamant point both arms towards the ground. You can read the back judges lips and he states I’m sorry but and the camera cuts away. I believe he is telling the official I sorry but that’s not a fair catch. The announcers even stated that was a blown call that cost UAB 15 yards. That doesn’t seem like much but in a close game that’s a lot. The 4th and a yard was the correct call but they should have measured anyway. They missed a face mask call on us that they probably would have scored a TD on
