Buffalo is like how NIU was when we couldn’t get over the hump to win MAC Championships. Super talented but slightly missing that killer instinct. They’re going to be tough for years to come. Glad we were on the winning side of that.

Buffalo has an outstanding coach and they will be a very tough team as long as he stays.

Like I said elsewhere, this year's game reminds me of our 2005 heartbreaker vs. Akron so we definitely know how Buffalo is feeling right now. They will be one of the MAC's best teams again next year.

Another heart breaker was the Miami Ohio championship game..I was there for that one

I'm still sick about both of those games. You never get over brutal losses like those.

I wasn't at the Akron game but watched it at BWW. I can still remember how angry I was when they lost, and I rushed out of there as quick as I could. What a gut punch. I did go to the Miami gut-punch and that was nearly as bad. I felt for the Ohio fans the following year when we were celebrating and they were staring in disbelief.

While those were heartbreakers the worst MACC loss, and perhaps the most significant loss for NIU ever, was BG smashing us in 2013. I thought we'd walk away with that game. That was an undefeated JL lead team that owned the MAC that year.
That loss cost us back to back BCS bowls. I was ready to go to Phoenix for that one.
