Little has been said about Jeff Knowles in his first year as DC (right or wrong, we spend most of our time on this board complaining about the offense, Childers, Coach Carey and Coach U). Stating the obvious, it helps to have great players to achieve success, and Knowles inherited Smith, Corcoran, Pugh and others. But props to Coach Knowles! The defense clearly drove this team. School sack record. Coverage schemes that were much more aggressive than in previous years. Outstanding interior D-line development. Tremendous depth. Jones-Davis's growth as a player. It was all pretty impressive. If Sutton comes back next year, that D will be tough for opponents to handle.

Agree, the defense has been fun to watch, props to coach Knowles and the other coaches getting the guys ready to play.

I kind of figured that Coach Knowles would be a stud. Heck I even tagged him in a Facebook post saying that he would be, his wife "liked" it. My supporting evidence, comes from all of the linebackers that he helped developed as a linebacker coach in his short time with us...really hope he stays a few more years
