Georgia?
The expectation seems to be Oklahoma or maybe Ohio St in at #4, but Georgia is a top 4 school. Do y’all think the committee could actually put them in? Would it be easier than parsing Oklahoma and Ohio St?

UGA is a two loss team. There's just no way they get in. My money is on OU.

RE: Georgia?
The committee is not tasked of comparing number of losses, only picking the best 4 teams. I think they’ll pick Oklahoma, but is Georgia a top 4 team?

Yeah, I just don't see them having the guts to put in UGA this year. Andy Staples put it well... OU is the most deserving team, but UGA is the best team. I think they will go with deserving in this case.

I think so, too, which is unfortunate for football

Should be UCF. Back to back undefeated seasons should be rewarded.

RE: Georgia?
I thought about this last night. If you put Georgia in you ha e to consider Michigan. Then you have to add UCF. Throw in Washington and that's 8...

True, but the best 4 teams can’t include a 2 loss non conference winner considering the other teams they have to pick from

I agree - it would be bad form and would cause a lot of unnecessary headaches. They can justify choosing Oklahoma without nearly the problems choosing Georgia would bring.

RE: Georgia?
Taking a gamble on Kirby Smart play-calling at the most critical moment, perhaps is not what the selection committee wanted to see again. That, and two loses and not winning the SEC championship game. Still, they look top four. They may be better than ND, OU, and more confidently, OSU. I'd like to see how they'd do against Clemson.

I'm beginning to think Georgia won't make the top four this year.

Texas with a 9-4 record headed for the Sugar Bowl is generous. I realize it is a tie-in. Georgia is 11-2.
OU and UT do have certain advantages in the B12, considering all things not being equal.

Since the XII dropped to 10 schools, these are the schools that were either #1 or #2 in the final rankings:

#1
Oklahoma St: 2011
Kansas St: 2012
Baylor: 2013, 2014
Oklahoma: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
#2
Kansas St: 2011
Oklahoma: 2012, 2013
TCU: 2014, 2017
Oklahoma St: 2015, 2016
Texas: 2018

Of the 16 top-two seeds, the Oklahoma schools account for 9 of them - the Sooners taking 6. The private Texas schools have taken 1/4 of them. The Longhorns have only attained top-2 during that period once! Whatever advantage they have, and I agree there is an advantage, they have not done well to utilize it.

RE: Georgia?
Georgia is a good team, but they lost to the two toughest teams on their schedule. They needed to beat Alabama to stay in the playoff picture. They didn’t and are sitting outside the window as they should.

Oklahoma was the more consistent team and earned the fourth spot. UGa finishing 5th is fair and Ohio State was too inconsistent to be ranked higher than sixth.
