Nice coming out game by Williams. We need him to keep playing like that.
Played a pretty good team, Refs played 6th and maybe 7th man for them, Cumberland gave us nothing and we still won. I'll take it.

Road wins are not easy. Always will take it. I expect conference road games to like this.

Wasnt able to watch the game. What is up with Cumberland? He has been way too inconsistent to be our go to alpha so far

Good win, glad to see the team win when JC had his worse game of the year.
KW played great
Brooks had a good game
Broome has played much better, I imagine this is how he played at sacred heart.

Idk about that. I'd say this year's UNLV team is about on the level of Tulane in our conference.
If Cumberland even has a mediocre game tonight we likely win a lot more comfortably. With Cumberland taking the night off we're barely an NIT caliber team.

If you want to know how well we play, just look at the length of the game thread. Less than 2 pages means we dominated. More than 10 means we sucked. Still trying to quantify everything in between.

They lost to SELA today, at home

1) I'm not discrediting this win and 2) I'll admit UNLV is likely better than Tulane but this UNLV team would also likely finish around the 9-10 range in the AAC from what I saw tonight.
They lost to Loyola Marymount and Valpo by greater margins than tonight and only beat an average D2 team by 2 points in their only exhibition game. They're going to take their lumps in the Mountain West.

Disagree. This is like going on the road SMU, Tulsa, or Memphis. First road game. This team is going end up with a solid NCAA seed with a good chance to advance.

I agree that this UNLV team isn't very good. I just wanted to point out that they aren't Tulane awful. I think we would beat them by 20 if Cumberland would have shown up, and the refs let them play more.

RE: UNLV GAMETHREAD
My thoughts.
UC offense is kind of ugly. However, offense for most other teams I have seen this year is a tad ugly also.
Cumberland has some bad habits. Picking up meaningless fouls. Setting his mind on creating a shot - and falling in love with the idea when he is well defended. He is a good player for us, but he has some real issues.
I was not necessarily a believer in Brooks, but he is winning me over.
This was a good win (not great, but good). It was on the road, and we need to be able to do that when conference play rolls around. A lot of teams have not left home yet, even for a holiday tournament. It is simply harder on the road.

Cumberland can be a very good passer. But as you said, at times he decides he is going to shoot the ball no matter what and it often ends up as a bad result. He also needs to learn to deal better with refs who don't call the other team for touch fouls. He seems to get frustrated easily if the other teams fouls aren't being called.
Besides some silly turnovers Broome had a nice game. Did a good job getting easy shots or finding the open man.
If you'd asked me at the beginning of the season I would have told you Nsoseme would be starting over Brooks by now. I got that pretty wrong. Nsoseme still has the athleticism, but he hasn't put it together yet. Brooks has been solid for us every game and is becoming an on court leader for the team.
The final score was close, but we never let them get closer then 3. We were in control from the start of the game, even though we slowly let them draw closer. First road game, first game dealing with home-cooking and Cumberland played terrible. I'll take the win.

17 turnovers, out rebounded by 6 and UC still wins a true road game despite atrocious officiating. I'll take it.

Does UC get the victory even though UNLV scored 37 pts in the second half? Lol

Refs were fine. UNLV missed a ton of free throws. Houston is crushing ranked Oregon. WSU beat Baylor.

Small sample with the big 3 who left. But JC has a long way to go.
