Notre Dame is overrated. Barely beat Michigan and Northwestern where as Ohio St whipped them. They barely Pitt who Clemson just crushed, Ball St, Vandy, and USC. They are an Independent and didn't win a Conference Championship like the 4 Teams i would put in.

I would prefer an 8 Team playoff where the higher seed plays its Quarterfinal game at home and then use the Big Bowl games for the Semifinals and National Championship, like they do now. UCF would get in a 8 Team playoff.
Agree and ND beat Navy 44-22 The next week UC beat Navy 42-0

The Transitive Property does not work in football, nor is it a good judge of how good a team is. This argument is strictly a fallacy.

College football seems to be the only sport people concern themselves, and argue to no end about having the "best" teams play. No other sport features the "best" teams.

I will continue my one man crusade (which means nothing to the ratings) by refusing to watch the playoffs until only/all conference champions are invited to play in the playoff. If you are not good enough to win your conference, then you are not good enough for the playoff. It is simple, and conferences are meaningless until that happens.

College football has more in common with professional wrestling than it does professional football.

Finally, we 100% agree!

The best part of the CFP ia that its the easiest money in sports betting. 5 years and still cashing with the moneyline on every game that is set up to be fixed. Thats 13 games - 13 wins and zero losses. Not one upset - professional wrestling.

A conference will never allow an underdog to knock their conference leader out of the CFP top 4 rankings. This year OU and Clemson were big money locks. And the deluded B10 would not let the Sucknuts lose. Even the SEC figured out a way to keep Georgia eligible.

So even though my Bearcats and the rest of the G5 will NEVER get into a 4 team CFP, I will keep on cashing at the window of fixed college football.

RE: OT: Football conference championship games
Honestly think of post season schedule as Wrestlemania or any other major wrestling PPV. Cincinnati is a mid-carder, UCF is an upper mid-carder. Ohio State, Oklahoma, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Clemson are the main eventers. Its not a about equity or fairness its about making a main event that draws the most eyeballs, creates controversy and excitement. Like wrestling everybody plays their roll and everyone makes more money going along with program which is why the G5 is part of the contract instead of going about this on their own. It isn't right and it isn't fair but college football is the closest major sport to pro wrestling outside of MMA or boxing.

IMO, I think if Michigan doesn't lose that OSU game, they would have had a legitimate shot of being in the Final 4. I think the Big 10 lost when OSU won.

I know it's not necessarily the point that you were making (you were talking more about upsets/underdogs), I just thought this was a good opportunity to make my statement.

RE: OT: Football conference championship games
Been hearing a lot about how Notre Dame will suffer from not having a conference championship game. Here is a proposal:

Have the AAC championship determined a week earlier (might have to ditch the championship game). Then, during the championship weekend, the top ranked AAC team takes on the top ranked independent team in a game.

Imagine Notre Dame vs Central Florida yesterday. Central Florida suddenly makes the playoffs with a win, and as the higher ranked team Notre Dame gets to host a game on championship weekend (and probably hold up NBC for more money for the game).

Thats why I wrote ' deluded B10'. They think, as do some on this board, OSU has a legit shot.

That has as much chance as Ono getting UC into the AAU and the BXII. Lol

No love for OSU here so I'm glad they didn't get in and that the arrogance of B10 fans in this neck of the woods is subdued just a little as they sit on the outside looking in again.

Having said that, I believe OSU was probably at least on par with Notre Dame and maybe even Oklahoma. The four team playoff experiment really hasn't worked so well. If we went to eight, do we still have the same arguments from teams nine through twelve? Probably. But I would argue there are a small number of super elite teams in any given year and when you get to eight you solve more problems than you create.

The conspiracy stuff gets to be a bit much at times.

They created a 4 team playoff knowing full well there were 5 "power" conferences, and ND as a wildcard. At the end of the day, they all cash in either way. You think the B10 is hurting over not making it in the last 2 years? Yeah, me neither....

This is slightly off topic. From what I've seen the PAC 12 was worse than the AAC, and the B1G wasn't much better. I didn't watch much ACC football, but was there much to talk about outside of Clemson? SEC has a handful of Solid teams, but less than they normally do. Big 12 again had a handful, but nothing really after that.

I think this was a down year for NCAA Football in general.

They have even managed to make the NY6 bowls seem like a consolation prize and teams are not as motivated to play for them.

The BCS gave more teams "prestige" while two played for a national championship. The current playoff system has ruined college football.

That may be true but he's right that Notre Dame was over rated this year and should not have gotten a spot in the play off. If conference championships matter as the committee has stated in the past then Oklahoma and Ohio State both should have been in ahead of them as both had the same number of wins plus a conference title. UCF had one more win plus a conference title but gets no shot.

The rules shift to fit the situation. The conference championship game only has value when it suits the agenda. That's why Alabama got in last year while essentially finishing 3rd in the SEC last season and sitting home on championship weekend.

True and further proof why this 4 game play off is a farce.

And UGA finished above a 12-1 conference champ this year even with a second loss. I don't think conference championships should matter because they're gimmicky and the best two teams in the country could be in the same division and only one could play for the conference title while the Pitts and Northwesterns win garbage divisions with 3 conference losses. However the rule is on the books and it's clearly not being enforced.

The only difference between the Big Ten and the AAC is at the top Ohio State and arguably Michigan, although the Wolverines don't have the offense to hang with UCF. At the bottom Rutgers and Illinois are better than UConn, but IDK if they'd beat anyone else in the conference on a neutral field.

How good is PSU really? Appy State took them down to the wire.

After that there is a deluge of mediocrity that would still be mediocre in the AAC: Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana,
