I have not seen any reporting on this outside of the military oriented news and I believe it is appropriate to share with the community. There is another name to immortalize on our bronze plaque in front of the flag poles.

32 year old US Army Green Beret Sergeant 1st Class Joshua "Zach" Beale was killed on Tuesday. He was a Virginia native, ODU class of 2008 alumnus with a BS in criminal justice, husband and father of two.

Pretty disappointed there has been no action from the university yet. I called the office of the president asking if they were going to make a statement or hold an event and they referred me to the military liaison for some reason. I don't think they had heard about this at all.

They had to know. They have a media relations staff that aggregates ODU news every day. I mean, even I got a Google alert about it.
