That holding on the QB run was the difference.

The loss to Miami was a bad one too. I think that was 2008 or 2009?

Dec. of 2010. Didn’t Alex Kube have an unfortunate deflection that was caught by a Miami receiver to keep a drive alive?

Buffalo was holding Smith all night. The refs finally called one.

It wasn't Kube. LB out of Missouri, name escapes me now.

You were the only one you had faith we'd win. Congrats, you called it.

Thanks, you got to have faith. The victory beers taste extra good tonight! I knew once they get Corcoran back it would change the defense. What got me so confident they would win was the offense playing so well. It was only a matter of time until Smith and Corcoran took over.

I really believe he has a chance to move on after this. Other programs will notice. Especially if a more flashy hire falls through for some program. If he stays, we are fortunate because this type of stability is hard to achieve.

Novak created stability this program needed. The rough start but a change of culture. Stability helps recruit kids with r hat chip on there shoulder.. the hard way

But that is exactly the point his decisions hamstring the team. I really think we could have won more of those non conference games if he would have offensively schemed better throughout the year. I will admit I had to eat some crow last night, but one night doesn’t make up for multiple years of bad decisions and I strongly believe his coaching limited this teams potential this year.

But it's not just "one night".

RE: FIRE ROD CAREY!
What I loved about last night was there was zero or little short passes/screen passes, and more deep passes/wheel routes.

We did not see that at all in the Iowa game.....Looking back, the only game that we were out of going into the 4th quarter was Iowa......and I will gladly take that with any coach of NIU over the opponents we had this season. ESPN three weeks ago said NIU had the TOUGHEST non-conference schedule in the country.

Should we still decline the bowl invitation like some people suggested so we don't embarrass NIU football anymore this year?

RE: FIRE ROD CAREY!
We can say or think all we want about Coach Carey on the Dog Pound. What I saw after the game Friday night was a fired up coach being drenched in Gatorade by a joyous team and a lot of players, especially DJ Brown, seeking him out, embracing him, celebrating. Does every kid who plays a sport love their coach? Of course not. I thought my college baseball coach was a complete knucklehead (and, of course, I was 19 and knew everything at the time!). But the constant pounding RC has taken over the years for "losing his players" blah blah blah just doesn't hold up. (And please don't bring up the Boise State debacle. We'll never know what happened with that game.) Congratulations to Coach Carey, his staff, and the team! Great win in Detroit...now let's go win a bowl game!
