CFP Scenario at leaves tradition in tact.
Lots of talk about CFP Scenarios today. I have 3 scenarios with only one going to 8 teams.
1. I like Jim Delaney's original suggestion. Conference Champions rated in the top six. Then backfill with the highest ranked teams when there aren't 4 in the top 6.
2. In this year's potential scenario you could easily add a rule that Conference championships are the tiebreaker among teams with the same number of losses. As it stands its only a consideration, not a determining factor. (does an Alabama team that loses the conference championship to UGA get in over a 1 loss Big 10 and Big 12 champs?)
3. Here is a more elaborate scenario. require all conferences to go to 10 game conference schedules. Also, require that no conference have more than 16 teams. Let Conferences determine their champion any way they please.
Then have an 8 team playoff with the P5 conference champions getting in automatically regardless of record.
Include G5 champs in the top12 and automatically include the top-rated G5.
Backfill any spaces left leaving ranking intact when seeding
2017 Scenario
1 Clemson vs 12 UCF
2 Georgia vs 8 USC
3 Oklahoma vs 6 Wisconsin (at-large)
4 Alabama vs 5 Ohio State
