He was a lawyer for trump and he was raided. What did you want me to change it to, former lawyer...or mention he's a democrat...or just a property tax lawyer? What.....

That firm has a bunch of clients. Lots of larger landlords and developers in Chicagoland. In no manner does Burke work exclusively for Trump. The only reason you posted the article is because Burke's firm has done work for the Trump organization. That firm has worked on thousands and thousands of cases. You can't work for the city's Finance Committe/Tax Appeals and then be representing clients seeking to reduce their real estate taxes. There has probably been kickbacks given to city employees / Aldermen for decades in order to receive favorable outcomes on tax appeal cases. Lots of their clients also do business with the city/county, Banks, Blue Cross Blue Shield etc.

Yeah...so? I posted the article because of the timeliness of it. It coincided with Cohen and Deutsche Bank. Yes, it could be nothing and just a giant coincidence. Just as I alluded to in my initial post.

Dude there are articles going back 20 years on this guy Burke and conflicts of interest and shenanigans. You posted the article because the Trump Org is a client of the firm, like hundreds of other landlords and developers. The headline in total BS.

Right...and it happened on the same day as Cohen and Deutsche Bank and it MAY involve trump. You know...our current president. Try to keep up.

The operative word is "MAY" (your caps), which necessarily implies "may not." Get back to us when it is clear which one is correct.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is some kind of scorched-earth campaign. "We can't get anything on Trump, so we are simply going to destroy everybody who ever did business with him."

If it involved Trump, why did the FBI only raid Burke's aldermanic and campaign office, but not his law office?

As I clearly intimated in the OP, it could be nothing (involving trump).

So why did you title the thread, "Another trump (sic) Lawyer Raided?"

The guy was a trump lawyer and he was raided. As I said earlier, sure, I could have put "former", but the actual post itself and the provided link gives all the necessary details.

Perhaps I've missed all the times you questioned the thread titles of your right-wing pals?

Quote:One of the most powerful Democratic City Council members in Chicago has been charged with extortion, accused of trying to shake down a fast-food restaurant seeking remodeling permits, said a federal complaint unsealed Thursday.

Alderman Ed Burke, 75, is charged with one count of attempted extortion for conveying to company executives in 2017 that they’d get the permits if they signed on as clients at his private property tax law firm, the 37-page complaint said.

Quote:Burke said after FBI raids on his offices at City Hall and in his Southwest Side ward in November that he was sure agents wouldn’t find anything “amiss.”

The complaint, which does not identify the fast-food company or the executives allegedly squeezed, includes excerpts from wiretaps of Burke’s phone and emails seized in the raids.

When the executives didn’t give Burke’s law firm the business he wanted, Burke spoke with one of his ward employees about how they would “play hard” ball with the company, the complaint said.

So it had absolutely nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with typical crooked leftist politics.

Other than yet again, trump having hired one of the best people. 03-lol He sure does associate with a lot of folks who end up in trouble with the law.
