App hasn't lost a coach to another team since 1988. Welcome to reality.

I'm in reality, thanks. But once again, money wins, as it always does. It hadn't happened to App because the FCS isn't based entirely around money, it's based around success. That's why Moore was with us so long.

GS is on our FOURTH head coach since announcing a move up in spring 2013, so...yea.

Something needs to be done? That’s funny stuff right there. How about you take a job knowing that there’s no chance of advancing or accepting a better opportunity.

All I'm saying is that there needs to be some sort of contract protection for things like this. If he's gonna leave, I'd rather he announce it like a year head of time so we can work on training someone new. This team is too young and talented to go through a coaching change right now. We could honestly be the new UCF next year with how our OOC schedule looks.

IF this does happen someone will inherit the best team in the Sun Belt. It's actually a good time for a change to happen if it has to happen.
There's nothing like celebrating a conference championship and having your coach announced somewhere else on your drive home. Savor it, you might only get a couple of chances at that feeling.

Training a head coach? You really, really don’t know how this works.

Assimilating a new coach to a team isn't heard of? Well I'll be damned. God I must be stupid

I don’t think you are being serious but the highest G5 salary is Memphis at 2.6 mil and the highest in the SBC is 850k.

Also gives Doug Gillan 3 days to put together an offer to keep him around.

Give Satterfield credit for being smarter than to stay in a G-5 conference when he has a shot at a P-5. C'mon.
You make it seem as if the worst HC job in P-5 is still better than the best HC job in G-5. If so... disagree.

Scott Satterfield is the common denominator between your best years in the FCS and your very good transition into the FBS.

You guys should be thankful he was with you as an OC 6 (?) seasons and as a head coach for 6 seasons.

He was involved with your program for longer than Paul Johnson was with ours, and that's with Paul Johnson running an offense that fewer schools would be interested in.

Silver lining if Satt leaves, we get to steal Houston from both JMU and UNCC. Totally worth It in my opinion.

Edit: AND Satt gets to beat up on UNC, Duke, Wake and NC State

LMAO... you're crying to a conference that has had this happen to them for decades. App got VERY lucky with long term coaches in Moore, and even Satt stuck around longer than average.

That said. I hope yall find the next Tyson Summers. Yall are due. 04-cheers

We will be fine. People actually want to live in the Blue Ridge Mountains as opposed to Statesboro.

Cmon dude that’s silly. Contract protection a year ahead of time? What’s the other school supposed to do? Wait patiently through another disaster of a season so we can feel good?

This is an entertainment business and this is his livelihood.

I don't know how some of those dudes will handle the double shot of a possibility of Satterfield leaving and Steph Brown being kicked off the team in the same day.

LMAO

HIS SONS ARE STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL MAN!! WHY WOULD HE LEAVE?!

I can think of $2M reasons to leave.

In all seriousness, I hope and pray Napier is as successful as Satt is and stays for 6 years.

this is simple App State. Slash everything and just come up with few millions to pay the man. Problem solved.

The situation is pretty interesting though. With Charlotte hiring JMU's coach and Satterfield leaving App, the winter is coming.....

At this point, I wouldn't mind cutting the stadium renovations to keep Satt. We can deal with people laughing about our track for a few more years to keep a dominating team.
