What? No way!?!?

An almost entirely new staff? That almost never happens with a head coaching change.

I know, right???

Can't....help....yourself.

Give DG a break. He's going through a hard time because an outside in Doug Gillin hired another outsider who is going to be bringing in more outsiders. It's going to be rough on some people.

You're wrong about DG caring about insiders. Dude hates the GOAT Jerry Moore.

Than Moore? I agree. I do love him though, and hope he is loved again for the good stuff he did in life and in Boone. Doesn't make my statement less valid.

I think DG sees the potential App has and doesn’t believe we have to look internal for hires.

I agree culture is important, but App doesn’t have the culture market cornered when it comes to doing things the right way and making more with less. Many “outsiders” share this trait.

I’m excited about our future.

It all came down to who was hired. If one of three other guys get the HC job some of these guys are still in Boone. Not all who are leaving are going Louisville. Three more have a standing offer from Satterfield. One of those will be announced today or tomorrow and I promise you he didn't want to go. Another is on the fence and it all comes down to how a meeting with Drinkwitz goes the next day or so. It's not all bad news, it appears two important pieces will be staying.

So Clark and Jones stay... would had preferred Ivey - oh well - best of luck to him. Hopefully we will see him back soon

Dale Jones is staying to run the defense?

RE: Brett McMurphy : Scott Satterfield next on deck for Louisville
Just so everyone is completely clear:

These 6 are GONE:

HC - Satterfield
Co-OC/Passing Game/QBs - Ponce
RBs/Special Teams - Holt
Co-DC/CBs - Brown
Assistant Head Coach/DL - Ivey
Co-DC/ILBs - Jones

Still up in the air:

Co-OC/Running Game/OL - Clark
WRs/Recruiting Coordinator - Watts
TEs - Cardwell
Safeties - Gasparato
OLBs - DJ Smith

It's possible more could leave (and not necessarily just to Louisville), but it's also possible some stay.

I wonder what DJ Smith's comfort level with the defense is. He played in a 3-4 for a few years in Green Bay and has been back at App since 2016.

Are you suggesting DJ for DC? I'd be trilled to keep DJ on staff, but he's only 29 with only 1 year of full time coaching experience.

I'm suggesting he be interviewed for a job. If Drink was comfortable with his experience level and impressed in the interview I see no reason why he shouldn't be DC. Even with his previous titles not being related to position work, he was probably still involved with the defense and game planning.
