Wait a minute. All this speculation on Fitzgerald because profile is not on roster site anymore. Wow, maybe we should wait until something a little more concrete comes out before we head down the he's gone road.

Why? Can you think of any other sound reason his profile would be taken down?

Besides this is a sports message board. That's what we do, speculate.

It could have been an accident.

On the roster site, from the name, there are links to Bios. For Jonah that link has been removed along with the Bio it had pointed to.
Of course this could be a clerical accident, or a database glitch as well.

For the record, his name is still listed on the roster

Yeah, that's how this was discovered. He no longer had a Bio link from the roster.

Why didn't Strong play vs. Rice? I liked how they used him vs. VMI but didn't notice him Saturday.

A little too well some days. But yes everybody deserves a place where they perceive themselves as experts.COGS

RE: 2019 Football Roster - Realistically
Looking ahead on the D-line.

Judging from 2016 and 2017, our Dline looked to be excellent for 2018.
Sadly that was not the case, as, especially the interior, seemed to completely break down.
Some of this can be attributed to the loss of Miles Fox after the VT game.
However, even at full strength, Liberty put up 238 yds on the ground.

So, we lose:
DE - all everything Oshane Ximines, Daniel Appough, and Tim Ward.
Those are huge losses.
Remaining are:
6'4" 215lb RFR non rated Marcus Haynes, At 215 he is likely a pass rush specialist (weak side defensive end)
6'5" 245lb Fr Oshea Jackson, a 2 star, he shows promise
6'4" 235lb RFR James Valle III, a 3 star who will likely excel.
6'3" 250lb So Sam White, he has had some limited playing time, but.....
So far one commit for 2019, also a WDE is 6'4" non rated Elonte Jones.

We lose:
DT - Ryan Londree, Pat Toal, and Brandon Tyson.
Fortunately, the best of them, Miles Fox returns from a medical redshirt.
Remaining are:
6'2" 275lb non rated So Ty-Kee McCullers, very limited playing time
6'5" 275lb non rated Fr Sokoya McDuffie, played vs VMI
6'3' 270lb 2 star So Jeremy Meiser, returning starter
6'2" 275lb 2 star So. Juwan Ross, extensive playing time
6'5" 306lb 2 star Jr Mufu Taiwo, played is all games in n2018
6'4" 280lb 2 star RFR cameron Washington, played vs MTSU, VMI
So far one commit for 2019, 6'4: 315lb 3 star Cole Birdow

With Miles Fox coming back, and Meiser, Ross and Taiwo hopefully
improved we may be ok. Cameron Washington may surprise. At least we have some depth at DT.

Honestly, DE looks to be catastrophic beyond words. We have only three true DEs, including a Fr and RFR, with very little experience, and possible only two will be game ready. We have no depth whatsoever.

RE: 2019 Football Roster - Realistically
Which rankings are you using? 247 has Haynes and Valle as both 2 stars. Haynes, BTW, has shown promise this year and certainly weighs more than 215. Its possible Wilder stays at DE, I guess with as big as he;s gotten

Joreel Baum is a 3 star recruit (84), Elonte Jones is a 3 star recruit (83), Elijah Golston is a 3 star recruit (81) JUCO, Kevin Dameron is a 3 star recruit (80). Kadere Kounta is a 2 star recruit (79). McDuffie was one of our top recruits last year....3 star 81 rating.

Of course, I based in off our current system. The new coach may run a 4-3 or 3-4 and then we are talking about different schemes and positions. Based on a 4-3 DE alignment, there could be 10 DEs on the roster......4 true freshman, 1 redshirt freshman, 2 redshirt sophomores, 1 junior (redshirt?), and 1 senior (WIlder).

They are going to still be awfully young either way.

247 is the best rating system in G5 for consistency and accuracy.

I was using the info from the ODU roster, and the hard commit list at 247. Any recruits not on that list are suspect, IMHO.
A 3-4 would require a Nose Tackle that we don't yet have with the departure of Toal, as well as 3-4 specific linebackers that I am not sure we have.

I didn't include the WDEs as true DEs. That was a judgement call on my part. However if we are counting on true freshmen at DE we are likely in trouble

"if we are counting on true freshmen at DE we are likely in trouble"

Certainly. But, if you aren't calling wide defensive ends....defensive ends, what are you calling them? That is what they are and why 247 calls them.

Sure they are DEs
I am not familiar with the term 'wide defensive end'. The Weak-side DE usually is the edge rusher so is more slender/longer because he is coming of the non TE side and less likely to receive a double team in the running game.
Given our stated (BW) emphasis vs the run, I am was assessing our defensive line for next season and concentrating on where we will be with that.
Consequently, I did not consider true Freshmen WDEs as contributing to that philosophy. In fact I hope we don't have to use any Freshman on the defensive line at all.

That should have said "weak" defensive ends. Virtually all of our DEs were listed as WDEs.

Wilder said the other day he wants a 3-4 defensive minded coach.
