Howard’s defense was AWFUL!!!! The last thing we need are a bunch of friends getting space on the defensive staff. With the offensive production Howard had, the tribe defense would have led us to an 8-2 record. (And a much better performance at VT and JMU). I’m certain London wants more dynamic results than our defense showed (sacks, etc) but I believe our defensive staff played it safe BECAUSE our offense was historically bad. We couldn’t risk big plays. Anyway, not only was Howard’s defense bad, they had less impact plays. Less TFLs, less interceptions, less fumble recoveries, and barely more sacks. We shall see.

I'm just trying to list all possibilities in this thread. I'm not trying to say any coach is better or worse than another. Just listing what I hear.

We need to leave coaching spots available for June Jones and LSU coach Bobby April. There has got to be a Coach May out there somewhere too

As long as we have a new OC, I really don't care who fills the other positions

Expect it to be EJ Barthel from Howard.

RE: New Football Coaching Staff
Marion placed six offensive players on the MEAC 1st Team, with two WR's, QB, TE and two OL's. Their RB was Rookie of the Year.
I hope the staff will be flexible and capable of adapting schemes to our existing offensive talent, in the event our personnel are not an immediate fit for what they want to do. Cupboard is not bare by any means.

Wasn't Mangas the RBs coach previously? Or is he moving on?

Maybe not, but with Sam Serbay following London Jr, Marion, and Barthel, and based on what has transpired so far, the assumption would be Barthel is coming, also. Always the chance in a different capacity.

What an august group of coaches that would be, too.

I'd rather it be a November through January group.

RE: New Football Coaching Staff
I, too, would think it is Barthel. I also wouldn't be suprised if doesn't try to transplant his entire offensive staff from Howard. If Marion is the OC, wouldn't he get a major say in who his offensive assistants are?

More William & Mary news: Lafayette OL coach Gordie Sammis will join W&M as OL coach, a source tells The Athletic.
Sammis played OG at UVA from 2003-2007. Coached at VMI, Columbia and UVA prior to Lafayette.
