Big Grin The Ladies...
I saw the ladies were 5-2, and the new coach inked Tre Scott's twin little sisters to a scholarship. Does anyone think the new coach will be better than Jamelle Elliot? If she can keep the UCONN game under 30, she deserves a statue.

I doubt she can be worse.

I wish WBB was not necessary but since it is let's win.

I know you were half joking. I’m not sure why I’m wasting my time on this, but what if you had a daughter who’s really good at sports. You would not want her to have the opportunity to play in college?

I believe that you eat what you kill. I believe in capitalism. I have a daughter. If she was really good at a sport, I'd be happy to pay her way. It's not fair to have others do so.

She seemed like an inspired hire. Really hoping she takes the women's basketball program to a new level. No reason UC shouldn't be the #2 basketball program in this conference.

With the new arena, she really should be in prime position to take the program to the next level. It be nice to turn into a most years NCAA tourney team. I know getting to the elite level in women's basketball is difficult, but at least getting to the dance most years would be a big win.

Heard ran a successful program at Western KY. She has brought in some quality assistants. She's a much better coach than Elliott was.

I too think the arena will help the ladies. If you look at the budget reports, the athletic department is putting a lot of $$ into the ladies sports. Its no coincidence that volleyball, swimming and women's soccer has gotten better of late.

That's absurd. Under the current system, girls have a LOT more opportunities than boys to play sports.

How many people were cut from your high school girls basketball team?
How many people were cut from your high school boys basketball team?

If the opportunity were equal, then everyone would have an equal shot to play.

It's not just basketball. Boys have to be MUCH more dedicated in order to get the opportunity to play college sports at any level. My wife played D-3 softball, and the golf team begged her to play even though she stunk at it, just so the school could keep sponsoring women's golf. If she had refused, they would have been forced to cut boys sports to compensate (she played for one year then dropped it).

Boys are simply much more interested in sports than girls. I used to think this was cultural, but then my siblings and I started having kids. From the moment they can start interacting, boys are more attracted to balls and other moving objects than girls are. All the boys in my family learned to throw a ball before they were 7 months old, and all the girls just didn't care.

Am I missing something on GoBearcats, or are there really no freshmen on the team this year?

Hungry and excited coach. Has lots of energy. Hope she is successful and reaches out to young women in the community. No reason the women’s team can’t be successful and attract young girls in this community to root for them.

Disappointing loss to Ball State last night. Hopefully the Lady Bearcats can regroup and learn from the road loss. Keep pushing forward Coach Heard!

RE: The Ladies...
The ladies won again last night. They are having a great season, considering recent past. The may not make the NC2A but I won't be surprised to see them get in the Women's NIT tournament this year.

Bearcats Throttle Tigers, 89-69

Quote:MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Cincinnati women's basketball won its third-consecutive road conference game Wednesday with an 89-69 victory against the Memphis Tigers.

Winners of seven on their last eight games – including back-to-back triumphs – the Bearcats (16-8, 8-3 AAC) completed the regular-season sweep of the Tigers (9-15, 4-7 AAC) behind nine first-half 3-pointers and a 44-35 scoring advantage in the second.

Yea. They likely won't be an NCAA team, but they are sitting 3rd in the conference. They've been great at home. They are 0-2 against ranked teams (but of course both of those games are against UConn and they played UConn really well the second time). Really encouraging what she has done so far.

Took my granddaughter to watch the WSU game this past Sunday. I was impressed by the energy of the Lady Bearcats. They doubled-up on rebounds and Mick would have been proud of all the deflections they had.

A little hustle goes a long way and I could see that during the game.

Pretty amazing turnaround. And you've got to love the results in light of the UCONN coach trashing UC for firing his former player who I felt was shown plenty of patience to turn the program in the right direction.

I've spoken with someone who attended one of their games earlier this year for the first time. He said it was great to experience the amenities in the new 5th/3rd along with lower bowl seating at a modest price. I'll try to do the same before year's end.

Winners of 7 of their last 8. The lone loss came against UCF on the road by one point.

UCF is currently one game ahead in the AAC standings and one game behind UCONN.

UC led for much of the second half.
