Think he was holding his back/hip that he fell on when I saw a shot of the bench.

Wonder if Toure can play the wing in the defense. Switch him and JT. Can't be any worse. Too many easy buckets in the paint.
I’d honestly just rotate the two at center. They shouldn’t be on the court at the same time unless we have a massive size advantage over the other team that we want to exploit. Groce and Minnie should play more together.
At the end of the day, we aren’t going to be very good if we don’t get anything from Jackson and Minnie. The reason why optimism was so high for this team was because of how those two finished last season. They’ve been mostly dreadful so far, and our performances reflect that. The Thompson-Toure dilemma only exacerbates it, since our anemic offense has been way more detrimental than the defense.

Good call. I forgot about the hard fall he took.

Dear Friends,
I don't disagree with the comments, but Texas Christian was shooting threes like crazy. I don't know if they do that with any consistentcy, but we always seem to run into teams that every three pointer they take goes in. Was Thompson injured?

Toure was sold to us a shot blocking rim protector. We were pleasantly surprised at his offensive skills until we found out that he is awfully horrible defensively. In essence we replaced JT4 at the 5 position with Toure and we lost a lot there. We also have JT4 playing where Tim Bond was and again we are found desperately wanting both on offense and defense.
Toure is our center next year but this year he needs to relieve JT4 and perhaps play only limited minutes with him.

Agree. We expected a 3-headed monster team with Jackson/Thompson/Minnie.
The talent is there. Just need to put it all together.
I still say in the long run talent wins out. Let's hope so.
Big thing is that we need to get Minnie going. We just don't know what the story with him is. Could be injury. Could be this. Could be that.

Couldn’t have said it better, Jerry. Toure should be getting 15-20 minutes a night max, and that’s only if Thompson is struggling or in foul trouble. Ideally, I want Thompson in the middle of the zone for 30 minutes a game with two athletic wings next to him.
We have the lineup that can work, but our stubborn coach won’t go to it. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt with Minnie being hurt, but he should be starting with Groce once he’s healthy. It’s so obvious that we are better off with Thompson in his traditional role.

We have this discussion over and over and over. The zone will give you open looks. Detroit hit 15 of 30 on us. I listened to the radio and heard Chad say over and over again that we gave up wide open looks.
Let me tell you the rest of the season. We will start out 0-5 or 1-4 in conference play. Then play even for a few games before going on a 4 or 5 game win streak to start the MAC tournament. We will probably advance to the semifinals and lose the game.
After we lose the game, most of us will be satisfied that we finished over 0.500 knowing that McCadoo, Groce, Tourre and Paris will return. Steve will paint optimism all over this board during the spring and summer in an attempt to get us excited for the 2018/9 season.
Does anyone see a repeating pattern here lol :-)?

This loss felt much better and more acceptable than the Rutgers loss. A better performance (although flawed) against a better opponent than Rutgers is a start. The Detroit loss stings the most. Going to Boston for Saturday will be travel heavy and Northeastern is typically an above average midmajor.

They are generally a good 3-point shooting team.
They didn't shoot well their first game, but then pretty good.
