ODU Stadium Question
Hey ODU fans, I was wondering something about your new stadium. I was looking through the plans for it and saw that it will not be much bigger than the current stadium. My question is, why not expand to a larger size? If I'm not mistaken, you consistently sold out the older Foreman Field, so what is the deal? I will say, the designs look very nice, just wondering about the size.

RE: ODU Stadium Question
The sell outs are a thing of the past. They were fueled by the excitement of the ODU teams several years ago that threw the ball all over the field and scored a ton of points. The size is right based on demand, but the amenities are awful. They made the right call to rebuild at the same size.

Financial constraints. The expansion is being implemented in parts: the first stage is what you're seeing and gets them to 21K at $65 million; the final version is going to be at least $150 million and probably a good bit more and put capacity around 30K with a new scoreboard and luxury suites. The recent state law that forces non-P5 FBS schools (ODU and ... ODU) to only fund 55 percent of its athletic budget through student fees is a rate limiter.

RE: ODU Stadium Question
Was told the student endzone project is targeted for the post-2019 offseason. So, while we arent growing much, this is just the start.
