Mad dawg, Huskies with to many turnovers and missed clutch free-throws. They definitely should win more than one road game like last year. They may be able to get over 500 in the MAC

Not sure how to feel because I don't know how good Wisc Green Bay is. HUSKIES fought hard on the road and never gave up, have to respect them for that.

A winnable game for sure, 28 points off of turnovers for Green Bay is baaaaad.

This would be like losing to CMU or BGSU on the road I think.

This team is so close to being 7-0 win all your home games and and go 500 on the road and it will be a good season

Yes this game would have been nice but by no means is it devastating. Huskies were going to take lumps anyway this non-conf season, its all about getting ready for the MAC grind.

That’s true but Green Bay, Northern Kentucky and James Madison are MAC type teams. Getting ready for conference means finding away to win these close games against that level of a team. Honestly NIU’s biggest problem is they aren’t nasty anymore on defense. Without a Maric type or Aarik Armstead they just lack that defensive tenacity they used to have.

Yes that's certainly true, the pendulum has swung on that. I give credit to Monty for adjusting, but maybe the defense cannot be THIS bad. I don't think there is any doubt NIU is a more dangerous and better team this year than in year's past. What is unfortunate, is that the MAC is probably better than it has been in some time, it is peaking this year. NIU can be quite a bit better than it was last year and still end up 7-11 or 8-10 in this league. You are right though, NIU must go 7-2 or 6-3 at home this year in conference play. There should be a lot of parity for that 4th seed, much like last year. I basically concede that the top 3 seeds will be Buffalo, Toledo, and BSU. 9-9 or 10-8 could be enough for that 4 seed again.

I do see a shift to offense. Last year we had Doew starting but no more. More emphasis on scoring and outside shooting.

This is not a young team anymore. Most of the contributing players are seniors and juniors. Monty can't use that excuse anymore that they are learning. German is going to be a Reggie Theus type player. Put up big numbers in a losing cause.

Turnovers and 3 made free throws all night long? wowza
road non-conf close loss, they happen. This team is still putting up some fun offensive numbers.

I don't recall him using that as an excuse this year (I could be wrong, though), so I'm confused as to why you bring it up.
