Wow the new "NET" rankings are in and Huskies are #137 (GB #163).
WOW they really like us. As a comparison, KenPom has us #150 and
GB at #194. On the road it will be a tough game but I like the Huskies by six.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. The NET rankings has Kentucky at #61 so there will be some tweaking.

Kenpom has been a little interesting to watch this year, it has been a little jumpier than normal with big day to day variations. I think Kenpom may only have 1 MAC team below 200. To me the surprise so far in the MAC this year has been Akron. I know they had a handful of juco transfers and seem to have gelled. They are something like KenPom 132. I keep a novice elementary stat system (link in signature), and right now I have NIU finishing 9-9 conference and tied with a few other teams in that 4-7 range in terms of seeding. Id take that! Right now on that page, I come up with about a 70 percent chance of Buffalo winning the MAC tourney.

One thing I do like for NIU about how the MAC looks to be shaping up, is I could see a clear top 3 tier with Ball State, Toledo, and Buffalo, and then a pretty big gap with 3 to 4. That 4 spot, you might be able to be around .500 in conference and contend for a 4th seed again. I think there will be a 7-11 conf record traffic jam this year given so many wins being hogged up by Buffalo.

Ahh I believe the old.recency bias is affecting the betting. Maybe betters think NIU can shoot 66 percent every game. Green Bays results are kind of scary this year. They have lost to great teams by small margins

RE: pre mbb @ green bay thread
Green Bay will always have a love-hate place in my heart for basketball. Growing up in the 80s, parents would take me to about 1 NIU game a year, was a very casual fan of NIU growing up. Attended a few games first year of college in mid 90s and started to follow them more closely, but 2-10-96 was the game that took my casual fandom into an obsession. A nationally recognized UW-Green Bay team came to DeKalb on a cold Saturday night and 5300 people packed into Chick Evans for the game. It was as loud of an NIU game I have ever been at including a deafening N-I-U chant in a portion of the game NIU was trying to rally back. UWGB was that hurdle NIU could just not get past, much like the Packers and Bears. They owned the Huskies. Luckily UWGB got upset in the MCC tourney that year, which helped pave the way for NIU to the NCAA tourney bid. I know longer term fans speak of DePaul/Indiana games as what got them into it, but this was my Depaul game. I just wish so badly that NIU could get to a point of hosting a big game in the Convo because the number of new fans you draw with those games is so important. Not sure I would still be an NIU fan if not for that game that really drew me in.

That sad point is that there are several generations of NIU students that never experience what we did in the 70s-90s in a SRO environment at the Chick Evans Fieldhouse. We have lost those fans forever.

I remember Tony Bennet with UWGB ripping our hearts out in the Field House. I would drive out on a weekday night to see those games. I believe late 80s early 90s

Such a good point. Even one anomalous outstanding year would not bring huge numbers back. I think we are approaching that danger with football now too, generations are being lost.

Ahh yes, Jeff Nordgaard was the villain I remember. He was unstoppable. And wow I just see that Nordgaard will be honored at UWGB's next home game after NIU. Glad we miss it by a game, I would have had severe flashbacks.

Use an ad-blocking extension like uBlock Origin for chrome/firefox and you'll be fine.
