The success of State's women's team and the number of fans they draw to their games (and the number we drew to the NIT game a few years back) tell me our fans would support women's if they put a good product on the floor.

Well there's no way to know until we actually put a good product on the floor.

Dumping another penny into women's sports would be a classic Southern Miss move honestly.

I agree but unfortunately not dumping any money into women's sports will cost us double in Title IX lawsuits than it would to spend the money to begin with.

I agree completely. Our biggest facility needs are:
1. MAJOR overhaul/upgrade to Reed Green
2. A dedicated practice facility for basketball
3. An IPF for football

I'd say the football IPF is the most needed facility at most G5 schools, but we are soooo far behind in basketball that I think those facilities have to be addressed first.

Where would we put a IPF? Would we demo a building to make space next to the practice field? We'd still need the practice field.

We currently have 2 full size practice fields. I assume we'd put an IPF on top of one of those. We'd still have the same number of practice fields as we do now, but just one of them would be indoors.

You don't need an indoor per se. Teams are putting up covers over their practice fields.

RE: If Jon Leaves
ECU fan seems to think Jon met with ECU rep(s) yesterday in Knoxville as flight aware had a flight from Pine Belt to Knoxville. Sounds like ECU was planning on going after James Madison's coach but when Charlotte announced they were in the process of trying to hire him ECU quickly fired their coach (either Wednesday or yesterday) so they could go after him as well. What initially sounded like Charlotte got a hot commodity is now turning into somewhat of a bidding war for the JMU coach. The crappy part is that James Madison is in the FCS playoffs so it's turning into a Lousville/John L Smith hire where the coach could be hired during a game week.

Here's the full post on Hart:

There was a charter flight from Hattiesburg to Knoxville yesterday.

My guess is USM's Gilbert was meeting with Hart about the AD job. ECU admin is belatedly speeding up the AD hire so we can hire a new coach and not get left without any viable candidates, like Jeff Compher did with Mo. This should have been done 7 months ago.

He's one of two finalists apparently. But the other candidate says he's not a candidate. So maybe they will announce this guy as ECU's AD this weekend. Wonder how many USM Bowl invites will be on his voicemail that get ignored?

A whole new group of coeds you can go camping with in ECU, Giblet!

Please get this douche out of Hburg.

No, he couldn't. And if anyone could get us out of CUSA into the AAC, it would be Bower. Irrespective of what anyone around here thinks of him, he at least has more connections and regional respect than anyone else Bennett would/could hire. Is he still on the Playoff Selection Committee? As far as I know he is.

I have to say...I don't disagree with that analysis.

Coach Bower has been retired for 12 years and goes fishing every day. He won’t be signing on to be the next captain of the Hindenburg.

I hear Tom Jurich has some time on his hands these days. 05-stirthepot

I disagree with the 2 top priorities above. I think the best option is to continue with our minor enhancements and build up our following outside of a brick and motor perspective.
This is not a feel good movie like the Field of Dreams and we can't have a "build it and they will come mentality" from a fan perspective.
Reed Green has over 8k capacity and it's usually hosting fans around 2.6K clip. Why dump a large amount of money into the Yurt.
