Offensive records smashed!
We managed to set several offensive records to the downside. Before Saturday, 7 points was the least we had ever scored against a CUSA opponent, so 3 was a record there. ***** Correction: UAB lost to USM 3-0 in 2001, so that part is incorrect, the rest stands**** Even McGee never scored less than 14 in a CUSA game. The 89 yards of total offense probably set some records too. I know some will point to so many starters being out, but there is no way in heck the back ups should be this bad/unprepared. Coach Clark says the back ups get almost as many reps in practice as the starters do. We recruited these players. Until we get a better offensive scheme, what we are doing this year will be the ceiling. The defense is already a Top-15/20 program. It is a pity too, as Tyler Johnston was uncanny good running the spread offense in high school. WR's got open. It was not chunking it downfield with 50/50 balls hoping your WR wrestles it away from the defense.

I agree. Our team didn’t show up plain and simple. No reason on earth we should’ve played THAT bad. We had several dropped passes that would’ve extended drives, probably led to points, and kept us in the game. The defense played OKAY, but we had a sure fire 100% interception wrestled away from a defender where the ball hit him square in the hands and he had possession of the ball. No excuse for that - we would’ve had the ball with great field position if he came down with that INT. An awful showing all around. Disappointed with the effort regardless of how many players we had injured. Oh! And the team continues to be penalized at a staggering rate..

Anyways, we can’t get worse. Hopefully we show up this week since this game didn’t seem to matter to our team.

Great season to this point, I just hope we don’t collapse at the most important. Time of our season.

We might be playing in bad weather this week. You really can't tell this far out though. We had that late season collapse last year too, when the injuries kicked in. Not sure why the back ups don't get more playing time in games where we have huge leads. Some of those guys Saturday looked like they had never seen the field.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath and back away from the ledge. We had the luxury of already being in the championship game but had 7 starters banged up and one who apparently didn't get a nap before the game. I don't care who you are, at the G5 level when you get to the 3 team especially on the O line you're going to have a long day. Our offense was completely vanilla. There were almost no designed QB runs (since both were banged up) and no plays designed to take advantage of MTSU over pursuit. Give them credit too they smelled blood early and didn't back off. That's a good football team.

Let's see which team shows up when it counts for the trophy this weekend. Our guys enjoyed Saturday less than us (as hard as that is to believe for some on here)

If you criticize the team, you aren’t a true fan. That’s not me saying that. It’s the coach’s wife on twitter saying it.

Quote:I want everyone to know we love true UAB fans and UAB itself. It was a disappointment but those of you that want to badmouth a 9-3 , 2 year old, championship eleigible, bowl eligible team, can unfollow me. True fans I love you! I promise you no coach puts more into it than ours.

The vanilla part sort of stood out on both sides. Tony Franklin is usually a lot more aggressive than he was Saturday. We will see a lot more from them this week.

Nobody likes being told how to think, or how to critique a game. It's not her place or anybody else's to try to set a standard for fans to meet. She probably needs to get off of twitter. This is D-1 football, not Piedmont.

I love when people say you can't be a "real" fan if you say anything negative about your team.

The team had had an AWESOME season so far and I’m incredibly happy with where we are as a program. It’s still crazy to realize where we are after 2014. But.. Saturday was still awful.

She’s gone from attacking the opponents fans to attacking her teams fans.

I like her

RE: Offensive records smashed!
I honestly think we went in there with a basic game plan to prevent showing what we planned to show. If I recall correctly, Spencer’s one carry came right before they announced that FIU lost clinching for MTSU. I believe MTSU had to show a lot more to ensure they made the game. I hate that we approached this game in that manner but if we have a healthier o-line with most of the starters back then the gamble will pay off. It is tough to beat a team twice in one season. I hope we are partying this weekend in the boro. I have some family bragging rights at stake...

RE: Offensive records smashed!
Can spin it however you want. Well, we had this many starters out or we didn’t want to show our hand. I’m just pissed we made our way up to the game, and we threw in it front of likely the largest road crowd we’ve had under this coach.

So, we didn’t throw it. We were just down a bunch of starters and we didn’t want to strip redshirts. I remember begging for a third qb from Juco and signing legit lineman instead of just practice bodies over the last two classes. We didn’t, and we saw the results our 2nd teamers are capable of.

I hope y’all are right about resting up and not showing our hand. Better be able to back it up, otherwise somebody is going to look dumb.

Marino looked like in-game, that he had no business being dressed out. He seemed to have trouble just walking around.

Marino is playing on one leg. His backup, Zac Williams, looked to hurt his shoulder early in the second half. So at the DT position we have one guy playing on one leg and his backup playing with one arm.

RE: Offensive records smashed!
our Defense puts a lot of pressure on themselves more than any Unit I’ve ever watched for UAB Football. They should hold their heads up, they were on and played with a short field all day. Though, I think the first TD on Sat was the 90+ yd drive.

What was Stockstill doing having his kicker kick it to our tight end on kickoffs, knowing the not top 10 bloopers we’ve back there this season?

I had the same question. The opposing team should want to kick it to our returners.

The absence of Dufour, Fecanin, and Powers put a huge damper on the offensive scheme of things.

He knew our offense wasnt driving the field on them, so why risk a big play in special teams?

Stupid me. I forgot about the opening kick return we took to the 50 but only got a FG.

She jumped the shark with that stuff. At her request, I unfollowed. Facebook and twitter. If I played like that and the fans weren't pissed, I would be surprised and confused. I got yelled at by my team's parents playing soccer when I was 10.

Much like Twitter is doing by banning free speech, we need people to stop going through and trying to monitor what fans are saying. We are the same people that were there marching in the streets, standing in at Board Meetings, rushing out to a rally on the green 24 hrs after the USM game, participating in 24/7 social media outrage, going from town to town for proclamations, etc....

Who the heck are some of these people to question anyones, showing support or critique, fanhood? Get out of here with that bull. There’s no one fan more truer than the other. Folks need to quit acting like it.

If you were proud of the performance, you wouldn’t be looking for arguments online in defense of said performance.

I love coach Clark and can’t thank him and Jen enough for all they’ve done for us. This is the atmosphere of college athletics and when you get paid 100s of thousands of dollars, there’s no omission of criticism in performances no matter the circumstances.

This!! After that play, I thought "Middle wants it more than we do today." The UAB player (can't remember who it was) caught the interception and the MTSU receiver came over his head and literally took the ball away... and turned it into a 30ish yard gain.
