Saturday we will be taking a leisurely ride home and looking for things to do.
For instance, we will be stopping at the Bell's brewery tour in Kalamazoo.
Looking for more great ideas.

Hopcat, which is basically across the street from Bell's in Kalamazoo, has a huge variety of beers - if you have time for more than 1 brewery. Last time I went to both.
Thanks to the Huskies regularly playing in Detroit over the last decade, we've discovered a few great spots on the way there and back. We always stay at the Dearborn Inn, which was built by Henry Ford near his Ford plant. Beautiful old hotel now owned by Marriott. Not terribly expensive--in the ballpark of $150. Places to stop between Chicago and Detroit: True North Jerky in Chelsea, MI; Grand River Brewery in Jackson, home of the award winning IPA Monkey Mouth (good food, too!); Greenbush microbewery in Sawyer, MI (great beer and food); St. Julian Winery, Paw Paw, MI (but skip the wine and go straight to the vodka made from grapes and the rum--both are superb); Vineyards Chocolate, Coloma (the chocolate covered bacon is killer); and finally, totally for the ladies, Chocolate Garden just down the street from Vineyards Chocolate. They specialize in truffles and actually offer a tasting. Oh, yeah, the Stray Dog in New Buffalo has great food and I believe is on the way, but we have family in Grand Rapids so it might be in that direction. I don't remember! Michigan has a lot to offer for sure! Enjoy!
For anyone that is a car junkie they have the original Ford Pickett plant in Detroit. Just updated not long ago. Lots of model t’s and cool to see the first place they had the assembly line for ford cars. The Dearborn ford plant tour is pretty cool too.

Chocolate covered bacon???? I'm there, with bells on. And my portable defibrillators.
Where to eat? Can’t offer much here after years of habitually sticking to Hockeytown and now-closed Cheli’s.
Where to stop?
- Tiger Stadium CF flagpole from 1912 still standing.
- American Jewelry & Loan...pawn shop home to tv’s “Hardcore Pawn”. Don’t be fooled by the name - sold historical sports, music, pop culture relics.
- Gilmore Museum near Kalamazoo...loaded with cars from 60s, 50s, 40s.
- Casino in New Buffalo...or Greektown/MGM within walking distance of Ford Field.
And hey if you get lost you could always use these guys as a guide:

Can vouch for these.
Redamak's in New Buffalo is decent, albeit Stray Dog has an excellent better burger. The red or orange pop floats, shakes are good at Redamak's.
Casino in New Buffalo is nice. I like it better than FireKeepers outside Battle Creek. Lot's of slots.
They also recently opened a microbrew in NB Beer Church. Wrote about it in Trib. Never been there.
There is a St. Julian's winery outlet off 94 just into MI if you dont go to Paw Paw. I think it's like 7 bucks for 6 samples or something. Includes some hard stuff options. Get to keep the glass.
All the trips to DTown, never been to Slow's. Heard good things. At at a small bar Sweetwater's. Comfy place for a beer. Good wings, appetizer plate.
If anyone doesn't mind a little drive out of the way there is Albanese candy in Hobart IN off 30. That is the biggest candy shop I ever been to. Selection is unreal. They have a plant there where they make lots of stuff, but also old time favorites in bite size. I have been there probably 6 times and I don't think there was ever less than 50 people in there.
And off course, there are a couple Big Boys off 94 if you feel like inhaling all the bacon, sausage and other items your stomach and heart can handle lol.

As long as Kalamazoo is in the picture, The Kalamazoo Air Zoo is an excellent aviation museum.
The Henry Ford Museum is jaw dropping. Plan on a day. 26 million artifacts, 300 years worth of history.

[side note: if you guys ever go to a Ball State game in Muncie and have an interest in military aviation, make a side trip to Dayton, OH for the Air Force museum that's there. It's huge]
Been to Slo's a couple of times. Great food. The one by Motor City Casino is sit down, the one by Wayne State is more of a carry out only place but they do have limited seating. For Polish food head up to Hamtramac, just up a bit off of 94, Josef Campau street. Paradise, I believe is the name of the restaurant (I'll check with my wife), it's in the basement and accepts cash only.

Oh man, we are going to be drunk. Might not make it home Saturday.

Yeah if we hit up all the breweries mentioned here that could be us. Yikes.
