Yep, it most certainly comes up in almost every recruiting discussion. To think they were keeping it secrets from recruits is just...well...kind of dumb.
You missed his point. Read again what NILAW said, and what others of us have said. To not make it public brings up the question of "why," in the recruiting aspect too, since there is no good reason to keep it quiet. None. Zippo.
Yes that was my point; not in general but only from the perspective of the parent of a recruit. The answer: how would anyone here know how it was handled? Actually, since it came out in the quiet period of recruiting, if it came up it would be very limited. Considering we just got a commitment from a very good recruit however it was handled it seems to have worked fine.
This issue was a hot topic back in the beginning of November: https://csnbbs.com/thread-862127.html. It looks like this issue came up again because the Illinois AD made public Lovie Smith's extension. While we are all free to bring up and discuss what we like, I would say let's not beat this dead-horse. We play in the MACC Friday so we have much more interesting and fun topics to discuss.

Nah, I got it, I just used to show you once again you're being quite...well I've said it enough.
You see, I have no problem if you want to say it should have been made public, I agree, and you've said it...plenty, we get it.
But if you think recruits didn't know about it (regardless of a press release or anything public), well you're wrong.
