95 pts against a team that hadn’t allowed more than 79 so far. Not too shabby boys!

Phew. 75% of the game played great, that last 6 minutes was flat out terrible. Offense great but can’t give up mid 80s to a trash team

I think Cylla should shoot the three if he is open. He is becoming what I would hope he would be. A big who can shoot can really spread the defense. If the defense could pick up just a little he will be a special player.

The team really needs to work on breaking the press.

Elmore didn't look like he was in the flow of things when he was on the floor. But I'm glad he got some minutes.

RE: ECU - 11/27 - CAA.TV
After seeing the new starting lineup, Taylor needs to come off the bench. I'd still start Fornes over Estime. Taylor is a good spark, but he gets too out of control. The olny reason to start Estime could be that he just doesn't do well coming off the bench where Fornes does. Sims doesn't look ready yet.

Davidson will be a great test to see if this improved play can translate against a top notch team.

I thought we went too much to the bench at the end. Plus, we aren't good at inbounding and breaking the press.

Well, overall really good UNCW basketball tonight. There were some lulls, but a lot more positives.

Holy hell Toews! That kid is gonna be phenomenal in the CAA, and you can tell the team is starting to be more comfortable with his no look passes. The kid sees the court like he’s playing the game 50 ft above the defenders from the rafters. Really like his game.

Elmore. Poor Elmore. Just doesn’t even look confident. Up by 22 when gets in the game with 10 min left and he just doesn’t look comfortable at all. He may need to go the Jeff Gary route and explore his D2 options. Just doesn’t look capable of playing at this level. I’m hoping I’m wrong and he can get something going, but it’s not looking good for him as he’s unable to even come in and compete in the garbage minutes when we have a big lead. When you’re leading like that it should give your garbage guys more confidence but it doesn’t seem the case with him.

Got a tough matchup with Davidson coming up but I like our momentum the as we approach CAA play.

Yeah. I’m glad I was wrong and he shot another one. A big that can stretch the floor is key. Cylla is becoming what we all expected out of Elmore a couple years ago.

I don't like Cylla shooting 3's. He isn't a great three point shooter and he is a great FT shooter. Can't draw fouls and FT's shooting 3's.

Bench players were getting more time and the refs blew a couple calls on O’Connell and Cacok that kind of put us at a size disadvantage against their bigs. Then we didn’t deal well with their press with our younger players, and that’s something we really need to work on. Weaknesses like that can get you in serious trouble in the CAA. Especially when you have whistles like Jerry Heater.

He’s been shooting it well lately, him out of the paint spreads the d and gives Cacok more room to operate..... that is.... if he can stay on the floor

I think tonight was a bit of an anomaly with that anyways. Did you see how excited that made 3 made him and he pointed at someone at the bench and they were all animated too. I think in a closer game McGrath doesn’t allow him to take that shot.

Can't let up when you're up 24 points! This team can be good if they get their defense a bit better. The offense is there now.

Cacok was being doubled and thrashed on by ezu. I have a funny feeling that’s what McGrath was getting in Jerry Heater’s ear about as the team went to the locker room at the half.

We didn’t rebound very well during that stretch either.

Well duh... see “size disadvantage”. Not impossible but sure makes getting boards difficult. Ezu was getting put-backs at a more regular level at that point.

True, but the coaching staff has been observing him shoot in practice for a while. They must have confidence in his shot. He did struggle early but that could have been a slump that he has come out of. I thought he drove when he had a lane and shot when he was open. Hope he keeps it up.

This team has plenty of offense now, they just need to play together and buckle down together on the defensive end. Hawks need to come out hard and tough on Davidson. This team is better than earlier in the year for sure but there's a lot of work to be done defensively.

Sorry, but Cylla can shoot 3s. He had a poor start for the season (0-11). Since then he is 7-14. Coach is encouraging him to shoot some 3s. But he doesn't camp out there. He was the best all around player in Asheville. He rebounded and scored from anywhere on the court. I think he has figured things out now and will be a major contributor in both ends of the court.
