RE: 2018 Bowl Pick'em
A reminder that the P5 contest will start with the Georgia Tech-Minnesota game on December 26. You do not have to have played the G5 contest in order to compete in this one. And those who are playing in the G5 contest but who haven't yet submitted P5 picks, you may still do that up until the first P5 kickoff if you want to be part of the combined contest.

We will pass the halfway point in the G5 contest tonight. When we do, we will have one player in sole possession of the lead. Whether that player is bullet or copycat will depend on the Bahamas Bowl currently in progress. But the contest is still wide open, and probably not settled until the bitter end.

So me picking Toledo means I'm in 2nd place, right? Perfect :)

I'd have to check the rules on this, but you might well have a chance to permanently retire the runnerup trophy. 04-cheers

RE: 2018 Bowl Pick'em
A lesson in not counting one's chickens. With La Tech's win last night, copycat has now moved into sole possession of the lead heading into the clubhouse. His 11 correct picks have him with a slim one game margin over IWokeUpLikeThis, lofi, No Bull, panite and TrueBlueDrew.

There are two more games before the Tie Break game between LSU and Central Florida. After the Duke-Temple game (Thursday afternoon) is in the books, I will invite all players who still have a mathematical chance of tying for first place to send me a PM with their picks for the tie break. That could still be a lot of folks, as half the field is within two games of the lead.

This one's probably going down to the wire. Good luck everyone.

Let's not panic yet... I've lost on a tiebreaker before. (See: Oregon vs Ohio State in 2014)

Not sure why I picked Houston over Army. At game day, I knew in my mind they would lose.

RE: 2018 Bowl Pick'em
The weather cancellation of the Boise-BC game could prove crucial, but we'll never know. Of the five players trailing by a single game, two - TrueBlueDrew and panite - had picked BC to upset the Broncos, which could have brought them even with copycat with only four games to go. Tough break, guys. Of course, if Boise had won, you would have been two back, so maybe you dodged a bullet.

Next up, Georgia Tech - Minnesota to kickoff the P5 contest.

If I end up in 2nd place on the G5 pick'em, I'm blaming Arkansas State head coach Blake Anderson for leaving 20 points on the field in an OT loss.

That is possible. If Arkansas State had won today, you would have already clinched the crown. Instead, it all comes down, fittingly, to the final game of the contest. If LSU wins, you win. If it's UCF, then IWokeUpLikeThis is the champ.

Good luck to you both!

Well that's it, bet the mortgage on UCF. You know it's going to happen.

Congratulations to Cyniclone, who has now clinched a victory in the P5 contest. With a 12-2 record following Oklahoma State's fourth down stop of Missouri in the red zone, he can not be caught no matter what happens tonight or tomorrow.

There is still one game that matters to Cyniclone. If Kentucky were to upset Penn State tomorrow, he will force a tiebreaker with copycat for the combined crown, and we'll have to await the outcome of the CFP championship game on January 7.

RE: 2018 Bowl Pick'em
LSU delivered the G5 victory to copycat. He is no longer a Pickem virgin after years of second place finishes. Congratulations!

He can still rack up another runnerup finish, as he will tie for the Combined Pickem with the P5 winner Cyniclone.

Both copycat and Cyniclone are invited to submit their tiebreaker picks to me by PM prior to the kickoff of the CFP championship game between #1 Alabama and #2 Clemson. The first tiebreak is the winner of that game. Second is margin of victory (MOV) and the third is total points scored by both teams. That tiebreak is closest to the actual points scored, whether higher or lower. If we are still tied after that, both players will be declared co-champions.

As it is, both are already champions, and worthy of your effusive praise (and rep points). So let's give them their props, folks.

Tomorrow I will post the final standings for each of the three contests.
