Early rumored candidates at Georgia Tech:

LA Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt (close with AD Todd Stansbury)
Clemson Co-OC Tony Elliott
App State HC Scott Satterfield
Troy HC Neal Brown

If they want to stick with the option:
Army HC Jeff Monken
Kennesaw State HC Brian Bohannon

Satterfield and Brown are in-play for Louisville as well.

If GT is looking to reinvent themselves, Brown is the smart play. He had to do it at Troy where the recruiting and been a mess for some time.

Word is that he's waiting to see if Satterfield goes to Louisville. If Satterfield does, Houston will try for the App St job. Or possibly ECU or GT if they offer and App St doesn't. Wouldn't be surprised if Charlotte leaked the offer to the press to try and force Houston's decision. Regardless, it should all be settled in a few days. Feel sorry for the JMU kids who have a big game on Saturday. It was a mess when it leaked that Craig Bohl was heading to Wyoming in the middle of one of NDSU's title runs.

Yeah he gave a short statement to the press yesterday either before or after practice. He did not seem too happy to have to do it, and I think it is because he did want this to stay close to the chest rather than put out there. I get the feeling that he wanted to do it "the right way," whatever that may mean. I understand the familial and monetary reasons why he might be making the move, and can't fault him for it, even if some consider Charlotte a lateral move to JMU.

Definitely not a lateral move. This was a strategic move on his part. Did everything he could at JMU. If he can turn Charlotte around in a couple years he could be a P5 coach in no time. Flipping bottom feeders gets peoples attention. Plus Charlotte has a ton of potential. Also FBS > FCS

They still haven't put Mack Brown as the replacement at Carolina, which is funny since they reported it first I believe.

If they are smart, they will figure out what Houston is offered and beat it. He did coach a team that beat them 34-14 last year. Some of his assistants are former ECU coaches, but I'm not sure what their experiences were like while they were there.

He's a Carolina boy, and moving closer to his aging parents while receiving a massive pay raise is a no brainer for any of us in whatever industry we work. If App St has an opening, I would expect them to reach out as well.

The timing of Mo's dismissal (why not do it last Sunday or after the NC State game Saturday?) makes it seem like we're worried one of our top targets is going to get snatched up, so maybe... or maybe with no AD it took until today to get approval to fire Scotty.

Has the guy form USM been hired as AD at ECU? He went to Lenoir-Rhyne in NC where Houston spent two years before moving on to The Citadel.

Apropos of nothing: If they hire him, Houston will play in a stadium named TD ECU and ECU will have a coach named Houston.

Sounds like Matt Wells is who Texas Tech is interesting in hiring. They reportedly weren't interested in even interviewing Dana Holgorsen.
