That surprises me. I thought he was at least that old when he was at Texas.

Quote:Western Kentucky didn't need long to find the Hilltoppers' new football coach, and it's an old name around the program.

University of Tennessee offensive coordinator Tyson Helton has reached an agreement to be the next head coach at WKU, according to ESPN.

Helton, 41, served as the Hilltoppers' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2014-15 under Jeff Brohm before joining the staff at Southern Cal. He was the Vols' offensive coordinator this past season as a part of Jeremy Pruitt's first staff in Knoxville.

Can’t do any worse than Sanford. Sanford Kragthorpe’d that program.

Yikes. Sorry for Purdue. Unfortunately winning the Big 10 may never happen them again. Risky for Louisville tho. Brohm hasn't been at Purdue long enough for me, if I were Louisville.

Good news for Purdue is no one’s touched a G5 coach yet.

With Fulmer in as AD, I wouldn't be surprised to see Tee Martin back at UT in some capacity. I do not think there are any ties between Pruitt and Martin, but my understanding is that Tee is a heck of a recruiter.

If - for whatever reason - Brohm declines, I'd expect Louisville to target App State;s Scott Satterfield and Troy's Neal Brown. Both would do well at P5.

Football Scoop also said they were interested in reaching out to Luke Fickell, which would be an intriguing move to say the least.

Keff Ciardello @Keff_C
Multiple sources saying #WVU OC Jake Spavital has signed with #TXST to be head coach. More details to come.

Indeed it would be. Sad it happened while we still have playoffs going on, but that's what you have to do as a coach with the early recruiting window. Sad to see him go, but wish him luck and all the best. He's going to be at a P5 within 5 years. Book it.

I think the coach hinted that he would love to coach James Madison at the FBS level. Now, JMU lost their coach. I guess he did not wait for the officials to get off their butts. JMU would be great to go alongside Appalachian State.

RE: FBS Coaching Carousel
Sounds like Charlotte has offered, but Houston has not accepted yet. This is not to say he's staying at JMU. Word is that he's waiting to see if Satterfield goes to Louisville. If Satterfield does, Houston will try for the App St job. Or possibly ECU or GT if they offer and App St doesn't. Wouldn't be surprised if Charlotte leaked the offer to the press to try and force Houston's decision. Regardless, it should all be settled in a few days. Feel sorry for the JMU kids who have a big game on Saturday. It was a mess when it leaked that Craig Bohl was heading to Wyoming in the middle of one of NDSU's title runs.
