"Bottom-feeder" really?
It wasn't the Boca Raton that had to leave Florida and head to an MLS stadium in Dallas.

When? When was it "aimed to be"? Nobody ever said the MAC or SBC had a contractual tie in with the bowl. The announcement is just that ESPN agreed to place a SBC team in the bowl in 2017 and 2019 and the MAC in 2018.
So long as the other spot is at-large, the bowl owner is tree to make side agreements.
Quote:The MAC's (crappy looking) bowl listing isn't up to date, apparently (https://getsomemaction.com/sports/2017/1...346.aspx).
Based on what info? If CFN contradicts official announcements from the parties to contracts and formal agreements, it's CFN that is likely to be missing information, no matter how pretty their layout.
Quote: The MAC is part of a Shared secondary tie-in with other G5s + BYU. Doesn't give us a real tie-in as far as trumping anyone else.
They mentioned that SEPERATELY when they announced 2018's bowls in March of this year. The side agreement with ESPN on the Frisco Bowl could only be trumped by a previous contractual tie-in ... which we know wasn't in place.
Quote:BUT, Good call on the secondary tie-in -- Boca Raton -- which CFN didn't pick up in their layout.
Tell me you are NOT contradicting multiple official announcements from the MAC based on what the CFN says. They don't have the clout to ask to see the contracts or to talk to someone who has.
If Georgia goes to the semifinals, OU goes to the Sugar Bowl, OSU goes to the Rose Bowl, TSUN and Penn State go to Access bowls, bottom two Big Ten bowls are open.
If OSU goes to CFP, also 3 Big Ten to NY6, also two Big Ten bowls unfilled.
Only OU to the CFP puts Detroit in danger ... that pulls Texas or WVU into the Sugar Bowl, squeezing Penn State out. Then if the Big Ten puts the Detroit bowl last, it's open, if they put it second to last, it's filled.
Boca Raton might only open up if they swing a deal to open it up, so if the MAC would rather go to Boca Raton than Dallas, they might do a swap. But the MAC ain't giving that away for zero in return. But there's no fixed pick order, and in the end it's the American's call, if they want to go to the Gasparilla Bowl, that opens up Boca Raton.
