Attendance would be better if the out of conference schedule was better. Our best years of attendance had better opponents visiting the Liberty Bowl. After all these years, no one really cares about playing teams like ECU or SMU. The original incarnation of CUSA was much better, and our conference situation has gradually gotten weaker each year.

OOC, sure.

The last part of your post is freaking insane.

We have never been in a better league, except for pre-2004 C-USA basketball.

Nine of the AAC members played in CUSA. Losing Louisville and TCU was huge. I'm not sure Navy, Temple, and UConn were that great of a trade off. And the original CUSA was lightyears better in basketball. We're going to regret letting in one-trick pony Wichita State.

I totally agree with you
ECU was cleaning our clock not so long ago and smuuu at one point had a decent program
Yes please upgrade the OOC schedule
I still don't know why we don't play southern miss, I always looked forward to playing them
Plus it was known as the black and blue game because it was so physical

Texas Christian wasn't even in the league long enough for them to visit the Liberty Bowl. They were in a weird transitional period, and wouldn't have ever joined C-USA if they had just waited for the inevitable WAC split. And that's where they returned after their brief stay with us - MWC.

Regardless, C-USA v1.0 was nowhere as good in football as current-day AAC.

Aren't we playing Houston tomorrow for a chance to play in the conference championship game. Seems like a pretty significant game to me. The occasional fan should be there.

I never bought into people attend games based on the opponent. I attend Tiger games because the Tigers are playing. Who they are playing doesn't matter, I will be there regardless.

The bottom line is that fans don't show up for conference games with the exception of one or two. Even the UCF game should've had more. Most of the top 20 attended games happened in years when we didn't go bowling.

In 2005 we had three 45K+ games. Two of them were v. Birmingham and v. Marshall. Very no-name.

We have had 40K+ games v. Duke, v. Martin, v. Missouri State, v. Middle Tennessee, v. Navy (55K), v. Southeast Missouri, v. Southern Illinois, v. East Carolina. All of these have been since 2013.

Look at the 55K plus games. Mostly against UT, Ole Miss, etc. Not against conference opponents.

I think we should have 45K there every game too, but 30K ain’t bad compared to our peers. In fact, it’s much, much better than most others. SMU was fighting to win the conference against us last week and there were maybe 5K there. Look at Temple, USF, Cinci, etc - we kill it in attendance vs them.

Go Tigers!

Agreed, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, and Temple draw crowds less than 15k 95% of the time. And probably less than 10k 70% of the time.

I always thought if we put a winning fun program to watch, we consistently draw 40k+. It almost happened last year barring a few bad weather games. Attendance has been disappointing this year but still better than most everyone except UCF.

What does the OOC schedule have to do with drawing the last game of the season.

Apparently, the thought is that we would sell more season tickets and be seen as a more 'legit' program.

We lost Louisville and....TCU. We replaced TCU and Louisville with UCF.

Yes, UL had some very good seasons, however, in the 4 seasons that TCU was 'affiliated' with us/C-USA, they went to the galleryfurniture.com bowl, the liberty bowl and the fort worth bowl and no bowl in their last year in C-USA. There were unranked in 2001 and 2004 and were 23/25 in 2002/2003.

TCU didn't hit it 'big' until 2005 (#7) and then finally went to BCS bowl games in 2008.

Truthfully, from a FB perspective, I would say its a bit of wash, Louisville would help attendance a bit, TCU none.

I agree that as a hypothetical Big XII member, a league game v. TCU would mean jack-all unless we were ranked or maybe close to it.

I was going to predict 22-25k yesterday but never got around to it. It is the holidays and people are black friday shopping. It is what it is.

Again, I ask why the turnout was so much better in 2016.
