I have not heard that, but it certainly makes sense. He is a veteran assistant/OC, among the very best recruiters in the country and has close ties to Alford.

What Cale Gundy doesn't have yet is head coaching experience (currently Oklahoma OC/IWR & RC). If he were able to come in and turn around the CMU program, he would likely be the OU head coach in waiting should Lincoln Riley ever leave for an NFL job.

Gundy's current annual salary is reportedly $550,000, so he is within CMU's price range too.
