JJJ and Last Year's Top 4
Thank God we have JJJ. So deflating for a franchise to get a top 4 pick and blow it. Like Hasheem Thabeet.
Last year's draft was thought to be a really good one. The #1 pick, Markelle Fultz, is either hurt or a headcase or both, and was shut down today by his agent. The #4 pick, Josh Jackson, is playing so poorly that he has been replaced in the rotation by a rookie, Mikal Bridges, and has a 5.0 PER, which is awful. Even the #2 pick, Lonzo Ball, while not a bust, has decreasing #'s across the board.
Just so important to hit on the top picks. And they all look great around draft time, but even for lottery picks about half of them flame out.

RE: JJJ and Last Year's Top 4
This was always the worry with Ayton. Doesn't play D, doesn't play physical, no dawg in him, wants to shoot mid-range jumpers all day. Grizz so lucky JJJ fell to 4. Phoenix getting massacred 2nd game in a row, down 36-9 at end of first to Portland.

The old vets on the Grizzlies team talk about how Jackson gets to practice early and how hard he works. He just needs to figure out the foul issue.
Here's the rookie stats this year:
SGA has been really good for the Clippers.

I will say this in Ball's defense getting LBJ on his team has played a huge role in his #'s decreasing.

Yeah. I actually think Lonzo is good. Great passer but poor shooter. Just not what you want out of the #2 overall pick.

JJJ is a blessing. I think he is #1 in the rookie power ranking scale ...

Best thing is if his trajectory continues, his talent can hopefully preserve Mike and Marc a bit longer, and help us recruit FA's once we get Parson's contract off the books. We won't sniff the 5 stars, perhaps, but we could attract better FA's with a superstar than we have recently with below and just-below superstars. Any increase would be an improvement.

Having Anthony Davis hasn’t helped New Orleans at all

Even imagining that I did not include "hopefully," "at all" seems a statement difficult for me to see support for its absolute-ness. A fairer argument countering mine is that he has been insufficient (distinctly different from nothing, or at all). But an argument could be made he has helped improve the quality of FA's they attracted, compared to his absence. I will grant it is difficult to prove one way or the other. I won't grant that he hasn't helped "at all."
