Exactly. I have no sympathy for them. Karma got them.

I heard somewhere Milton could lose his leg. I feel pretty bad for the kid.

His injury was similar to Munchie's, although they were able to reduce Milton's knee on the field.

Oklahoma is just as big a national brand as OSU is.

No it's not.

So did I miss something, or is everyone acknowledging that the size of a school's fanbase and overall national popularity is indeed a factor the committee considers when picking who gets in the playoffs?

Of course it is. They are looking for the largest fan base among the plausible contenders. A school like Clemson has to be exceptional to get a berth.

I was in Arizona a few years ago, and every second person was wearing OSU or Michigan gear. That matters.

Such a lazy argument. Sure, the brand matters. I'm not that naive.

But the brand isn't going to bump OSU from #10 to #4 over an Oklahoma team that will finish the year with wins over West Virginia and Texas.

Last year they took Alabama over OSU despite already having 3 southern teams. Thinking was that they would want more geographic diversity. I think the committee has more or less picked the best 4 teams.

I doubt they will. That one loss would be the trump card. If Oklahoma is 12-1 they will have avenged their only loss. But Texas has already beaten OU so no reason it couldn't happen again.

ESPN Analytics

If Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oklahoma all win out, our live projections give the Buckeyes a very slight edge to grab the fourth playoff spot over the Sooners, 57% to 43%. That's according to Playoff Predictor as of 5 p.m. ET.

LSU loses in OT to Texax A&M
It will be interesting to see if they remain ahead of UCF in rankings

I believe that this was one of only 4 road games for LSU. They have several "buy" games at home. It is tough to go on the road and win, even if you would seem to be the better team. I think that we should lobby to make this part of the selection criteria. (Not that our lobbying will accomplish much.)

For as much as I dislike Notre Dame, they do go on the road against real teams. Gotta admire them for that.

I think if Oklahoma beats Texas gets they get the bid over Ohio State. As UC fans I think we want Texas to win to open up another Big XII bowl. Oklahoma is a lock for a NY6. WVU isn’t going to make it now. A four loss Texas won’t either.

No it's not.

Correct. Particularly when you factor in the breadth of their alumni base. I guarantee you that there were packed OSU bars in every big city from Miami to Seattle and LA to Boston yesterday.

Now, that being said, I really want OSU to get left out because--as I've stated previously--the way to get an expanded playoff with (hopefully) a G5 auto-bid isn't for the G5 to get left out. It's for the Big Ten to get left out, and this will be the second year in a row that their champ will have been passed over. Eventually, Delaney is going to have to worry less about protecting the Rose Bowl and more about protecting his schools, and when that happens, we'll get change.

WOW...sounds like, Milton's, injury was far more damaging than the typical blown knee situation.

Hope he's able to make it back to the field. Seems like a Munchie situation....just seeing him back out there would be an awesome sight.

If he is back next year, definitely see a Munchie type situation where he was less mobile and could not longer extend his feet.

Hot Take (because I know some think Gunner was great and got a raw deal here, which he did in part but not entirely): Munchie was the guy who led UC to a share of the AAC title in 2014 and a 9-4 record. Had Gunner been healthy we would not have been as successful.

I think they both played a part. Gunner was huge in the ECU game that year.

Yeah, but Munchie was a leader in the locker room, Gunnar wasn't.

Or the "p" conferences take their ball and go home. They form their own division and have their own tournament. Either way, it's up to them.
