Go to 8 teams. Invite 5 P5 Champs and best G5 and 2 at large.

But what will motivate P5 to do it? Only money can do it as the P5's could care less about UCF or some other G5 getting locked out.

Do to folks at Camargo care that some city kid has to learn golf at Avon Fields?

Hell no.

This is good. I'd do the first round games at the top four seeds' stadiums. Second round could rotate between the big 6 bowls, and the final would be in an NFL stadium to include cold weather sites.

If Milton is hurt, that would give the committee their excuse to ignore UCF.

Doesn't sound good, carted off field and sent to hospital. Wonder how good their backup is.

What a shame. Milton is such a great gamer. Much respect for dude.

Phony? The Cartel 5 and their media partner espn created this mess. They created a rigged system. Most of the Cartel 5 claim phony NC’s from their past. What’s wrong with ucf taking a page out of their playbook?

What's wrong with it? They're doing it when a playoff system currently exists that right or wrong, they didn't participate in and win. I guess the Reds could also claim to be World Champs in the 1981 strike year because they had the overall best combined record but were kept out of the playoffs and it would be just as asinine.

A playoff system their conf is essentially precluded from playing in. It’s a rigged system and they are having fun with it. I find it interesting so many people get worked up over it. Especially, considering teams such as Pitt, Tenn, OK St, Bama, Mich St ... claim mythical titles as well.

By the way, I agree the Reds claiming themselves 81 World Series Champs would be asinine. However, this is Cincinnati, so nothing would surprise me.

As it drags on, it's seems less like they're having fun with it, and they appear more like angry self righteous whiners. It's getting old.

I don't think it ever was just about having fun with it. They were and are trying to make a point. And judging by some of the backlash and vitriol, I'd say it is working rather well for them. Not working would be if it was simply ignored...

What if...
A rule was added: To qualify for the playoffs you need at least 5 road games (or true neutral site games.)

As good as Alabama, LSU, and Georgia are - they only play 4 road games. Essentially all their non conference games are "buy" games at home. Yes their conference seems tough, but how can you really tell how good the league is?

When you have 8 home games, you have a lot of advantages.

Yup. Shades of Kenyon. Their shot is gone unfortunately.

Just read a bunch of UCF fans charging that USF plays dirty charging that USF speared low on Milton. I suggest these fan revisit how they tackled Ridder last week.

This makes me sick about the Milton kid. I pray it's not as bad as it sounds. I dont understand why these QBs aren't sliding, and the coaches should not be allowing their star QB to run through the gauntlet like that. Not everyone is Cam Newton.

RE: What happens if an unbeaten UCF is excluded again?
UCF never had a chance of being included. The system is designed to make it nearly impossible for a G6 team to make the playoffs; the practical ceiling is the access bowl. The only way a G6 team could make it is to go undefeated with a win over an elite team. Because most elite teams will not schedule a top G6 team, at least not with any regularity, and also because the elite teams are usually just flat-out better than anyone in the G6, that's something which is unlikely to happen in any given year.

For example, UCF's best win this year is vs. Pitt, not elite and arguably not even a Top 25 squad. Last year, their best pre-bowl win was against Memphis, another G6 team. By contrast, UC has a legit shot next year if it can go undefeated with a win over Ohio State. Get back to me after that happens.

Exactly. I have no sympathy for them. Karma got them.

Multiple AAC teams have elite opponents on next year's schedule alone. Including Cincinnati, who go on the road to play OSU. Houston starts the season vs. two top 10 teams in Oklahoma and Washington St. Memphis plays Ole Miss. UCF gets Stanford and Pitt next year. Usf gets Wisconsin Georgia Tech and BYU.

It'll be much more interesting if one of those teams finished with an underrated record.

Wouldn’t have mattered anyway. CFP is set.
1. Bama
2. Clemson
3. ND
4. OSU

Yep, very close to what any casual fan might have predicted before the first down of the season was played, in a "rich get richer" system. Not only the G6 that can't compete, but also the non-elite P5s. Iowa State or Wake Forest is hardly more likely to make the playoffs than UCF or Boise State.

I believe in the playoff era Clemson has missed one and OSU has missed a couple but you're pretty safe penciling in Clemson, OSU, and Alabama every year. 120+ schools competing for one spot annually, at most two.

Don't see how OSU jumps Oklahoma.

Yeah, but they're still in line for a NY6 game. And if they lose, the refrain will be that they were a fraud the whole time with a fluke win in last year's NY6 game. Nobody will want to hear about the impact of losing Milton.

I doubt they will. That one loss would be the trump card. If Oklahoma is 12-1 they will have avenged their only loss. But Texas has already beaten OU so no reason it couldn't happen again.

I heard somewhere Milton could lose his leg. I feel pretty bad for the kid.
