Quick Lane is likely to have either 1 or 2 open slots. MAC has a secondary agreement with Quick Lane.

MAC almost assuredly picks up another bowl bid in Detroit.

That gives the MAC 6 bids and now 6 eligible.

If MIA wins and ends up 6 - 6, does anything think Quick Lane would pass up EMU for Miami????
There are still 21 teams with a chance to get eligible (95 total teams). Obviously many of those 21 will lose this weekend, but there are only 4 remaining spots so if 5 or more win then someone's gonna get snubbed. A 6-6 MAC team would likely be first on the chopping block. This is why I think it's important that EMU beats Kent.

Not really. We will have 6 TIE-INs. Those are contractual obligations.

The only way things get messy is if we have 7 bowl eligibles and someone gets left sitting home (e.g., Miami).
Steve, the MAC has 4 bowl tie ins plus a conditional for the Det bowl.

NIU beating WMU would be nice. Besides the fact I like seeing WMU lose this would allow EMU to finish a game above them with a win at Kent.

I'm using the MAC's website. They list 5 + 2 secondary.

https://getsomemaction.com/sports/2017/1...74346.aspx

EDIT: I wonder if the list is correct. Frisco Bowl in Texas? Is it MAC or at-large???????????

Strange...I am sure it is probably just someone editing it for fun, but if you go to the Frisco Bowl wikipedia page, it lists the 2018 matchup as Houston vs Toledo

Bowl Eligible Teams
Does anyone know the earliest bowls can invite and announce selections? Do they have to wait for conference championships? What day was the Bahamas announced? The earlier the better for bowls down south for us.

Bowl Eligible Teams

AAC (6): Central Florida, Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis, South Florida, Temple
ACC (9): Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, NC State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia
Big 12 (5): Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, West Virginia
Big Ten (7): Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin
C-USA (6): Florida International, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, UAB
Independent (3): Army, BYU, Notre Dame
MAC (6): Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan
Mountain West (6): Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, San Diego State, Utah State
Pac-12 (7): Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, Stanford, Utah, Washington, Washington State
SEC (10): Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Texas A&M
Sun Belt (6): Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Monroe, Troy

One Win Away

AAC (2): SMU, Tulane

SMU can reach six wins with a road win over two-win Tulsa.
Tulane hasn’t played in a bowl since 2013 but can become eligible with a home win over Navy.

ACC (2): Florida State, Wake Forest

Florida State can extend its bowl streak to 37 years by beating rival Florida. FSU hasn’t missed a bowl game since 1981.
Wake Forest needs a road win over Duke to be eligible for the third straight season.

Big 12 (3): Baylor, Kansas State, TCU, Texas Tech

Baylor and Texas Tech play each other with a bowl berth on the line.
Kansas State can extend its bowl streak to nine years with a win over Iowa State.
TCU needs a home win over Oklahoma State.

Big Ten (3): Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Purdue

Indiana and Purdue play for the Old Oaken Bucket and bowl eligibility.
After Saturday’s OT loss to Ohio State, Maryland needs a road win over Penn State.
Minnesota needs a road win over Wisconsin.

Conference USA (2): Florida Atlantic, Southern Mississippi

Lane Kiffin can bring FAU to another bowl by beating Charlotte at home.
Southern Miss, which will not play a 12th game, needs a road win over UTEP.

MAC (1): Miami (Ohio)

Miami hosts Ball State on Tuesday night. The RedHawks (5-6, 5-2 MAC) are still alive in the MAC East race, too.

Mountain West (1): Wyoming

Wyoming, which travels to New Mexico on Saturday, has never played in a bowl game three years in a row.

Pac-12 (3): Arizona, Colorado, USC

Arizona can clinch a bowl with a win over Arizona State in the Territorial Cup.
Colorado, losers of six straight, needs a road win over Cal.
USC (5-6) hosts No. 3 Notre Dame. The Trojans haven’t had a losing record since 2000.

SEC (1): Tennessee, Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt hosts rival Tennessee with bowl eligibility on the line.

Sun Belt (1): Coastal Carolina

This is the first season Coastal Carolina can play in a bowl as an FBS program. It needs a road win over South Alabama to become eligible.

In addition, Akron and Virginia Tech are both 2 wins away, but have games scheduled that were cancelled due to weather. They both need 2 wins to become eligible.

Nice work Shoe! This might qualify as the most informative post of the year.

"The MAC has tie-ins with the Bahamas Bowl, the Camellia Bowl, the Dollar General Bowl, the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, and the Frisco Bowl. In addition, it has secondary agreements with the Boca Raton Bowl and the Quick Lane Bowl if other league's are unable to fill their allotments"

Five for certain. And I'd assume Quick Lane is a near certainty.

Dec 2 is the selection show. Bahamas is usually announced earlier due to passports, customs, and what not.

Indeed. I remember it from 2016.

I believe the selection was made early in the week following the last regular MAC game. Don't wait for the MACC and don't believe they have picked a MACC participant.

using logic, then NIU and UB will not be going to Bahamas.

The schools I remember in Bahamas have been CMU, WMU, EMU, and Ohio.

Time for say Toledo? And, EMU to Quick Lane. :)

So let's see, Tulane won, SMU is currently trailing, Florida State lost, Wake Forest won, Baylor won, Texas Tech lost, the other 2 are later. Purdue beat Indiana, Maryland trails, Minnesota leads Wisconsin. Southern Miss is leading handily, Florida Atlantic is later. Miami (Oh) won, Wyoming won. Colorado and UsC play later, Arizona is up 10 in the 3rd, Vandy is up on Tennessse and Coastal Carolina lost

Wonder how many 6-6 or 7-5 P5 schools will pass on a bowl.

B10 and ACC seem to have filled their tie-ins with enough eligible teams. I doubt Detroit is in play for the MAC now.

Kinda depends on who get some bigger at large bowls. Both ACC and B1G would drop Detrout first. Fingers crossed. Didn't help that VT beat UVA and will now play Marshall to try to get bowl eligible
