Rice women's hoops finally gets some home games
They begin an extensive homestand Tuesday night against TSU. Their schedule certainly gets easier after road games at A&M, UCLA and Little Rock to begin the season, but I will say, the next two games in particular are tougher than you might have realized with TSU tomorrow and then Georgia State Friday afternoon.
TSU gave Tulane a pretty decent battle on the road to begin the season, only losing by 6 (Tulane is 3-0, with wins over LSU and Washington since then). And they appear to have a few D1 transfers who are doing well.
Georgia State is 3-0 early on with wins over CUSA teams FAU and FIU, so again they are probably better than I realized when the schedule was first announced.
After those two, we'll play McNeese State at Tudor on Sunday (they're no good) and New Orleans the following weekend (they're not much better).
Hopefully we're closer to full strength and can get going on a nice, long win streak.

I'm looking forward to seeing the team play. And maybe some of the injured players return.

Appears Olivia is not suited up. Same for the 2 bigs.

18-20 at 8:08 in the 2nd.
Getting thoroughly outrebounded by a bad team. Bricks for hands.

Sorry couldn't make the game so I have to follow online. The stat broadcast says Olivia Ogwumike just checked into the game?
Swayze up to 9 points with 3 3-pointes now. Rice up 5.

Both Haylee and Erica with 9 points, Grigsby with 8....and we're catching up on the boards.

That has to be just as bad, if not worse, than any of the halves against UCLA or A&M. We don't have a playable big right now which is turning out to be a big problem.

I disagree. Yes, the lack of a big makes us vulnerable in the post and on the glass, and forces us to rely on the outside game, but so far turnovers are down (only 6 in the half) and assists are up (8 in half). FT shoot continues to be an issue for both the men and women.

We gave up 35 points to Texas Southern...

I mean, we're giving up 50/53/75 shooting to a SWAC team. It's entirely possible that this team just isn't as good as we thought...?

TSU has played the better game thus far. All of their players will drive to the basket and kick out if nothing is there. 4 of the 5 can shoot the 3 but that isn’t their first option. They are much better at going to the basket after the shot for rebounds. We are too passive on offense and wind up passing the ball around on the outside.

TSU takes a 55-49 lead into the 4Q. Lucky to be only down 6.
