Armus really got the Bucs going at the beginning of the 2nd half. I know it's a team game, but he seemed to turn them in the right direction, offensively and defensively.
Boyd seems to handle the ball in traffic very well and can be a real disrupter. I hope he embraces that role. Passing alone doesn't open up shots; having someone capable of getting defenders out of position helps the entire team.
I really like Rodriguez. No fanfare from him and at the end of the game you realize he's got a double-double.

After Armus' reverse layup I was screaming at my brother sitting next to me: "He...is...a...sophomore!" I wonder if a little bit of his motivation in the game came from the diss that #20 for Sam Houston gave him at the tip off when he refused to return or acknowledge Armus' attempt to shake hands/fist bump. It was petty and juvenile. I doubt that it mattered to Armus that much, but it was unpleasant and unnecessary.
In the post game Coach was talking about the little adjustments that the coaching staff made at half time. Little adjustments? In the first half I was sitting for the most part with my head in my hands when I wasn't lifting them up to the ceiling in supplication (my hands, not my heads) and thinking that the Bucs would be lucky to get out of this game with a 20 point loss.
It would be nice to not have so much drama, but a game like this points to interesting times ahead.
Rodriguez is a puzzle to me. I find my self watching the game as it goes back and forth and think that he is not contributing that much and then look at the scoreboard to find that he is in double figures scoring. I always found it hard to understand Coach Forbes praising him so much, as it never seemed that he showed that much athleticism or skill. Apparently a coach sees players with different eyes than a fan does. Who knew?

I saw the same thing with #20 at the start. I thought it was kind of childish. Armus looked bewildered! I was hoping he would take it to #20...and he did in the 2nd half!

How many lane violations has Rodriguez drawn? That little hitch got one guy on Chi St and another on Sam Houston. I think I saw a couple others that would have been had he not made the FT. I haven't seen the other games on TV.

I think when we pull a rabbit out of the hat such as this win, we should call it an “Austin Herink.”

At Georgia State a guy got 2 in a row.

Watched on the stream and I was wondering if anyone else noticed that. Armus was like ...ummm okay

This team, like most Buccaneer teams over the years, is low on petty drama. I like that a lot.

Boyd can be a special player; in the T.J. Cromer mold. He can shoot outside, he can penetrate and dish, and once that little floater starts dropping he will be one of the main cogs — maybe the main cog — in the Bucs' offense. Like Cromer, he does best when he doesn't try too hard and lets the game come to him.

Another thing to keep in mind, it was the 2nd night of playing for both teams. It certainly shows that our team is making use of their conditioning coach. You could tell that Sam Houston started losing steam mid way through the second half and our guys were hardly winded.

I remember when Randy Moss looked as if he were loafing down the sideline while in reality he was outrunning the opposition. The good ones make it look effortless.

Late last night swvabucsfan stole my thunder just a bit concerning this post, as before the second half was over I had already decided to respond to this comment, saying how "prescient" it was - even if we didn't ultimately win the game. When he updated his post #20 of this thread (the long review), he included that very comment. I didn't get back on the computer, so he beat me to that punch. Every once in a while he and I seem to be on quite the same wavelength - even when the subject isn't old-time music.

Truly -- a great call!!

Yes, 06 nailed that one.

And your information on old time music, and on good pickers, is as much appreciated as your basketball information.
