Robert C arrived here about halfway into first half. Trojans lead 42-37 at the half

RE: In Tulsa
That was not a terrible game, considering our youth, new coach, being on the road and the competition. Some positives and some teaching points for DW and crew. Good aggressiveness in offense. Tucker nailed a double double and Deondre scoring 14 off the bench kept it respectable. The ball moved around well and they don't look lost and in need of direction unlike years past. I credit the coaches for having them prepared. Now the bad: need to reduce turnovers and make the damn free throws. Need a solution to the post players fouling out. Sure we jumped out to an early lead, but attrition corrected it for TU in the closing minutes. It was a must-win home game as far as the TU fan base is concerned, They think LR is beneath them even though the series was dead even at the start. It has quietly become a bit of a non-con rivalry and a litmus test for any TU coach. Also, reading the Tulsa boards (something I rarely do) they think this was a bad game for the Hurricane and they merely survived when they should have blown us out by 30-plus.They should have jumped out to a ten point lead and put LR in catch-up mode. I think they have to respect us for not being cupcakes now. Little Rock is serious ball all the time.

RE: In Tulsa
The final score was about what I expected before the game started. A little disappointing after jumping out to a sizeable lead. Main issue, at this point, is our "bigs" learning how to stay out of foul trouble. We need Chris and Nikoli to play big minutes. If they do, I continue to think we'll be pretty good. I think Tulsa would be a top-tier Sun Belt team. We lost by 10 on the road. I think this game suggests we will be very competitive in the Sun Belt. That's what I'm hoping for in Darrell's first year. No idea where we will finish, but I think middle of the pack is very possible. 5th or 6th would be an automatic trip to New Orleans. 7th or 8th would get us a first round home game which would hopefully lead to us getting in the tournament. Higher than 5th, seems like a stretch right now, but far from impossible.

I tend to agree. The problems we are seeing are not lack of ability or lack of leadership or intellect. This team can and should improve to where a top four finish is feasible.

LOOKING AT THE STATS
Tucker is obviously our most consistent offensive player at this point. But eight turnovers is WAY too many.

Nice to see Deondre back in the hunt.

We have way too many rebounds being pulled down by our guards, especially our point guards.

Kris Bankston makes his shots. He is 18 of 21 for the season.

Kamani Johnson is hitting the boards. Averaging 4.0 per game in only 12 minutes.

We have to have more minutes out of Maric.

He’s not Chris Beard, but who is? And I’m still mystified about not using close to all of our scholarships, but all that being said even in the Nevada blowout I saw a LOT of improvement from Wes and feel like we are in a nice upward trajectory.

A couple of injuries in the wrong places . . .

It is hard for me to believe that there were no graduate sorts out there who never found a place to land who would still leave those scholarships open for next season.
