That C-USA does not value rivalries or potential rivalries at all. It really doesnt matter if there is much of a rivalry there, C-USA needs to create something that fans can attend on the weekend that fan bases want to hate each other. Terrible leadership continues to plague this conference. Of the 7 matchups 2 are within driving distance and 1 is a true rivalry. 3 are over 1,000 miles away. The people running C-USA are completely incompetent.

UTSA vs NT (300 miles) (only one that makes sense)
Charlotte vs FAU (700 miles)
UAB vs MTSU (200 miles)
ODU vs Rice (1,400 miles)
Marshall vs FIU (1,100 miles)
WKU vs La Tech (600 miles)
Southern Miss vs UTEP (1,100 miles)

Ideal "Rivalry Week" Matchups
ODU vs Charlotte (300 miles) (startup football rivals)
FAU vs FIU (57 miles) (Shula bowl)
La Tech vs Southern Miss (240 miles) (rivalry in dixie)
UTEP vs Rice (750 miles) (texas matchup)
UTSA vs NT (300 Miles) (Rivalry)
WKU vs MTSU (100 miles) (100 miles of hate)
Marshall vs UAB (500 miles)

Any way you slice it, C-USA drops the ball on this every year. FIRE JUDY!

The main reason they do this is because the students are out of school. Most students wont return for the games no matter the C-USA opponent. I think that it is good to play these 'rivalry' games before Thanksgiving break.

This is SEC country. People around here would rather watch that nasty orange team or bama play then support their local school. There just isn't a culture of support around here for MT. All you have to do is go to Walmart or Kohls and it's obvious. There might be a couple shirts/hats for MT, but there is an abundance of Vol and Bama gear to purchase.

That's really not true, MT has been bleeding support for about six or seven years and Western fell off a cliff under Sanford.

A decade ago we could count on at least one or two games over 20k(we had 28k for a Tuesday night conference game) but even when we were doing better in the stands, late November games have always been sparsely attended, Thanksgiving weekend even more so.

I just think it's interesting that after I called you out for whining about the WAC adding two more Texas teams you told me to "worry about MT/WKU" and literally seven hours later, here you are, worrying about MT/WKU.

As for me being a UTSA fan, fat chance, I still haven't forgiven the WAC for adding them, there were already enough FBS members with absurdly long names, we didn't need another!
